REMINDER

All Returning Varsity and JV Players and those interested in the Girls Soccer program for the 2017 spring season.

Need to get the physical paperwork completed as soon as possible. Athletes must have all paperwork turned in before participating in off season training. Paperwork can be found on the School Athletics web page. Any questions contact the Athletic Department offices.

Girls Soccer off season training will end at 6:00pm today instead of 6:30pm and will be indoors. Please meet at outside of the weight room at 4:30. 

**GIRLS SOCCER NEWS**

The off season calendar for February has been posted under the "Files" tab for Girls Varsity Soccer on riversiderams.net. 

Please note that with last weeks snow the stadium and practice fields are still covered. We will keep our schedule regardless of field conditions and make adjustments if needed in terms of location and activity. If any days get canceled or have a time change we will send out announcements accordingly. 

Please be sure to bring cleats and tennis shoes to all off season training. 

Tryouts begin on February 22nd. We will be having a mandatory tryout interest meeting on February 11th at 8am in the library to go over procedures and paperwork. If you are unable to attend but still plan on trying out you need to email Coach Hunter at chunter@lcps.org with your full name and grade prior to the meeting. 

Due to VHSL rules we are not able to hold sport specific practices the week before tryouts. However, we will be holding conditioning sessions after school each day from February 16-19 for those who can attend in order to prepare for tryouts and the season. These will be very beneficial for athletes and we encourage all players interested in trying out to attend as many of the conditioning sessions as possible.

Due to weight room availability we will need to change our schedule for this week to accommodate getting our weight lifting testing complete before break. The schedule for this week will be as follows:

Monday 4:30-6pm (bring cleats - skill work and small sided play)

Wednesday 6:30am (All weight room - Max Testing)

Thursday 4:30-6pm (All weight room - Max Testing)

Girls Soccer has begun its first fundraiser for the new program! We are selling Riverside Girls Soccer Apparel in order to raise money for the program for our upcoming spring season, as well as giving all community members a chance to have the very first Riverside Girls Soccer spirit wear!

We have set up an online store through Holton Design where you can easily access all of the items for sale including t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, and hoodies. All orders can be placed and paid for online and will be delivered to the coaching staff for pick up before Christmas break! 

This is a GREAT Christmas/holiday present for anyone interested in girls soccer! Also, for all parents, friends, and family... this is your chance to get your spirit wear to be able to support your team come spring at our games!

Riverside will be entering a team(s) into the Dulles Sportsplex HS indoor league this winter. The season will run from November 28 through January 17th. Games will be played on the weekend at varying times either Saturday or Sunday. 

Any players who are interested in playing MUST let Coach Hunter know by November 6th. Please do so by either email at chunter@lcps.org or through a direct message on twitter @RVHS_GSoccer. There will also be sign ups available at off-season training sessions.

Anyone who is interested in playing soccer for Riverside this spring may register. Depending on the number of players interested will determine the amount of teams and the $ amount per player. After November 6th, those players who have signed up will receive more information regarding online registration through Dulles Sportsplex, jerseys, payment, etc.

Note that we are beginning to incorporate some skill work and 7v7 play so please make sure to have cleats and shin guards for trainings on Mondays & Wednesdays starting in December.

Due to the VHSL black out dates occuring from November 9th through 18th the girls soccer off season calendar has been adjusted. Please find the updated calendar under the "team files" tab for Girls Varsity Soccer. 

Riverside High School announces the hiring of Christy Byle as Head Junior Varsity Girls Soccer coach. Christy has most recently worked as the Assistant Junior Varsity coach for Tuscarora High School for the last three years. Prior to the start of her coaching career, Christy played soccer for Lynchburg College in 2011. Lynchburg won the ODAC championship that year and qualified for the NCAA tournament. Christy graduated from Shenandoah University in 2015 where she majored in Kinesiology with a minor in coaching. Christy grew up playing soccer in Loudoun County. She attended Loudoun County High School where she played soccer all four years and placed second in the state championship in 2010. Christy is currently working as the head coach of the Leesburg Futbol Club Strikers.

Girls Soccer has officially begun its Off-Season training and conditioning. 

Off-Season practices will take place on Monday's after school from 4:30-6pm and Thursdays before school at 6:30am. This schedule will remain the same each week through Thanksgiving Break. Please make sure all athletes have their cleats AND running shoes for every off season practice.

We will continue to send email blasts regarding schedule changes and announcements but will use twitter as our main form of reminders for the off season training sessions. We have had great attendance so far and hope to see it continue to grow each week so please be sure to get your athletic paperwork turned in and attend as many off season practices as possible if you are serious about the program. GO RAMS!!!!

Girls Soccer first off season training will be tomorrow morning 9/24 at 6:30am. BRING CLEATS AND TENNIS SHOES. We will meet outside of the girls locker room.

There will be an interest meeting held on Thursday, September 10th at 8am in the Library. If you are interested in trying out for the program in the spring please attend this meeting. We will be getting contact information and going over off season training.

**GIRLS SOCCER TRYOUT INFORMATION**

We are thrilled to begin tryouts for the first ever Riverside Girls Soccer Program. Just a few quick notes about tryouts this week. 

1. Please always bring indoor and outdoor shoes as weather can change our practice plans for the day. 

2. For tryouts and practices this week (2/22-2/26) we will be at the Stadium field from 4-6:15. It is very important that all players arrive to Stadium on time. 

3. For Mondays Tryout... please arrive at the Stadium promptly at 4:00pm to begin the "check in" portion of tryouts in a timely manner. You will have time to put on all cleats, socks, and shin guards at the field. Players need to quickly change their clothes at school and then head down to the stadium with all of their belongings. We are aiming to be complete with check in by 4:15pm

4. If weather puts us indoors any day we are in the AUX gym from 4-6:15 pm. 

We look forward to seeing everyone who comes out for the program and are very excited about our upcoming season!!! We can't wait to see you all tomorrow :)
