Hi Rams Softball Families:
First, I hope this message finds you, your family and friends safe and healthy! We absolutely miss seeing everyone at practice each day and the stands packed during games.
As you can imagine there are many unresolved details from our season being cut short. One is the collection of school-issued uniforms. LCPS has provided Riverside a very short window from 8-9am on Wednesday, May 20th, to collect these items.
Mr. Anderson will be sending an email later today with all of the details. It is extremely important to follow these instructions and return all of the items. I have sent a direct message to all of the players with some additional details.
Please feel free to call/text me at (703) 362-3300 if you have any questions or want to work with me to arrange alternative arrangements prior to Wednesday.
Miss you all,
Kevin--

Ram Softball Families:
As we mentioned during our first pitch dinner event, we need a few folks to help with coordinating this season's fundraising effort as well as pre-game meals. The players have already selected the vendors (Chick-Fil-A & Tropical Smoothie). We just need someone to help with the ordering, distribution & payment. Regarding fundraising we think the eTeams email campaign has run it's course. If some creative types could think of some other ideas (raffle, silent auction, etc.) we would appreciate it. We have some expenses we have to repay (ie our new cage and turf, we need new softballs, etc.). If you have this burning desire to help our players, please shoot me a call/text at (703) 362-3300. We appreciate it!!!
Thanks as always,
Kevin

Hello Rams Softball Families:
Congratulations to all of the players and families on joining the 2020 Rams Softball Program. As mentioned on the welcome letter each player received, there are a couple of important activities coming up tomorrow.
Tomorrow on March 3, 2020 at 7pm, the Spring Sports Parents Meeting will take place in the Main Gym. All parents of Spring Sports athletes should attend. Administrators will discuss RVHS athletic policies, Booster Club opportunities, how to get information/updates, school and LCPS policies.
Immediately following, the Softball Program will host it's 2nd Annual First Pitch Dinner in the Cafeteria where we will introduce this year's teams and discuss the program's philosophy, schedule and expectations, all while enjoying dinner together from Uncle Julio's.
We are looking forward to a great season!!!

Good afternoon RAMS!!!
We are just a short 12 days away from the start of the 2020 softball season! First, thank you to all of those student athletes that have put in the work with our off-season program at school. We all really appreciate your efforts and dedication to the Riverside softball program.
As we approach tryouts, there are a few important announcements and dates that we wanted to make sure everyone was aware of in advance.
First, we will hold a pre-tryout student meeting on Wednesday, February 19th, at 4:15pm in one of the health classrooms. This meeting is for EVERYONE that is interested in trying out for the softball program this year. We will answer questions about the tryout process, the upcoming season, spring break, our move to 5A and what that means as well as other questions you may have regarding the program.
If you have not done so already, please be sure to complete all required paperwork for athletic participation, including all online requirements, as well as the hard copy physical form. All documents & instructions can be found HERE. If for some odd reason this hasn't been done, it needs to be FULLY completed and submitted to the athletic office no later than Friday, 2/21. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRYOUT WITHOUT THIS COMPLETED.
Tryouts will be held on February 24th-26th immediately after school. Players should come prepared to either be outside (on the field or on the turf) or inside in one of the gyms. So please make sure that you are dressed accordingly along with the proper footwear for the various surfaces. Tryouts will consist of evaluation of offensive and defensive skills through the use of various drills as well as measurement of metrics such as tee exit speed, overhand velocity, 20 yard sprint, 5-10-5 shuttle agility drill, etc. Tryout results will be communicated individually on February 26th after the last portion of tryouts.
OTHER IMPORTANT DATES:
FEBRUARY 29 - FIELD CLEAN UP & PROJECT DAY - 9AM-1PM (in lieu of practice)
MARCH 3 - PICTURE DAY, CONCUSSION TESTING & FIRST PITCH DINNER
Note that the softball program will NOT be having practices over Spring Break. Please enjoy this time with your family and rest up as we get ready to attack our schedule upon the return.
The program will once again be participating in our Seldens Landing Mentor program during the season. All players and managers should expect to work with students before school 1-2 days/week while we are in season. The schedule for this will be forthcoming.
In the April timeframe, it is expected that all softball program members participate in the annual Madison Small Foundation Color Run starting at Broad Run HS. More information to come as it becomes available.
We will also be continuing our developmental program with a motivational book. More details to come at the First Pitch Dinner.
There will be many more details to come regarding the season and we look forward to getting started as we are counting down the days!
As always players, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask if there are any questions.
