Riverside Girls Lacrosse,
We had an excellent Green Day last week; valuable time spent conditioning, improving stick skills and embracing the mechanics of outside shooting. THIS WEEK: Wednesday July 26th, Green Day Training, 8:30am practice turf
REMINDER: Athletic paperwork must be up to date and on file in the Athletic Office in order to participate in any Riverside Trainings. All forms are available online on the Riversiderams.net site

Please be sure to log on to the site, create an account and follow our Girls Lacrosse Teams. Pass this information on to any player that might be interested in joining us for pre season training.

Quick housekeeping message for you as we head into pre pre pre season for YEAR 3...LCPS has changed the policy for Participation Forms. Here is a simple rundown of the new process so that we can be within compliancy for our out of season strength/speed and Green Day sessions:
- A hard copy of the physical is the ONLY form that must be turned into the Athletic Department

RAMS,
We have all been processing this incredible season over the last several days and ultimately it comes down to the fact that YOU GIRLS ARE AMAZING! To enter the state championship game 19-0 as a 2 year program is beyond our wildest dreams and we are very thankful for every success, each moment together on the field, all the incredibly unique players that make up our roster, all the legendary families that stand right behind each player and we are thankful that we continue to experience great team climate with NO DRAMA and our TEAM FIRST attitude. We cannot imagine our life as RAMS without our seniors, Yasmine and Rachel, but we know that is time for them to run ahead of the HERD and do amazing things as college freshmen. We will always remember your leadership, your sportsmanship and your work ethic...you are our champions and we will continue to build on the foundation that you created. Come back anytime time to run the bowtie or a couple quick Manchester sprints:)
We cannot always win, it's just that simple. We will lose, it happens and it is necessary. However, we will not ever lose without learning. Process that one team...and then add a "save the date" to your calendar for the state championship next year.
YEAR 3 begins now...we are going to jump back in the saddle with team building, summer Green Day Training and our very favorite...locker clean out. #MOBLAS
- ?Monday June 19th 9am Team Room: LOCKER CLEAN OUT. This is mandatory, breakfast will follow.
- Green Day Trainings: This year we will hosting Green Day Trainings on Wednesdays right after school. We will kick off this new schedule this summer by hosting Green Day Trainings from 6:30pm to 8pm on the following Wednesdays:
- June 21st, 28th
- July 12th, 19th, 26th?
?We could not be more PROUD of everything we accomplished in YEAR 2 and we are preparing to take the RAM by the horns and trail blaze ourselves into YEAR 3!

RAMS,
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to our amazing team on winning the 4A Region Championship last night against a very skilled, well coached team in George Mason! You are young, you have HEART and you REFUSE to LOSE; we are SO very proud of you!
We are ready to take another big step forward together this coming week as we head into the state semi finals on Tuesday night when we host Monticello in the stadium at 5:30pm.
Schedule for this week:
- Monday June 5th: 4pm team training on the practice turf, team dinner to follow
- Tuesday June 6th: STATE SEMI FINAL 5:30pm vs Monticello Stadium Turf
- Wednesday and on...TBD by Tuesday night:)
Thoughts looking ahead:
We are taking this one game at a time, and living the oneTEAM DREAM, however, for your planning purposes, I feel like we need to share some thoughts on logistics for a potential game on June 10th in Roanoke, VA. The Athletic Department has reserved hotel rooms for our team for Friday evening and we would travel the team by bus to Roanoke on Friday afternoon after school. Parents that are looking to book rooms are able to do so independently; Misty Marelli has a great lead on 2 new hotels in Salem. We will keep details coming as the path unfolds:)
Looking forward to a great week ahead as our journey together continues!

RAMS,
Another EXCITING night in RAMCountry last night as 3 teams advanced in regional play; boys soccer, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse! We are truly living the dream with so many teams playing deep into the post season! With this overall "winning climate" comes the facility use balancing act since we are all top seeds and have the distinct advantage of hosting games. Here is the plan for tomorrow night:
FRIDAY JUNE 2nd: We will host George Mason for the 4A North Regional Final at HOME at 4pm. Please note the very early start time; Riverside is hosting a triple header tomorrow night and we are in the lead off spot!
The win last night against Dominion guarantees us a spot at the State Semi Final! This game will likely be played on June 6th/7th...here is where it gets VERY interesting; a WIN tomorrow night against George Mason will give us home field advantage in the State Semi Final. This is a huge advantage as the potential opponent could be Salem and we would like to avoid a road trip in the semi final round.
TODAY: Training at 4pm, meet outside the team room and plan to give us 45 minutes of focus, winning attitude and hard work. Parents, please plan to pick up at 4:45pm, get the HERD refueled, re-hydrated and rested before our game tomorrow afternoon!
Many thanks for your continued support; what you do behind the scenes powers our on-field performance and we know that you will be standing shoulder to shoulder with us all the way to the end...whatever that may be.

Congratulations to our young team on extending our season into Regional Play! Your hard work, hustle and ability to play as a team in any situation has earned you the top seed at the region semi final scheduled for this Wednesday evening at home against Dominion. Here is the plan for the week:
- Monday May 29th: Team training 7pm on the practice turf
- Tuesday May 30th: Team training 4pm to 5:20pm on the stadium turf and then film from 5:30 to 6:30pm
- Wednesday May 31st: Region Semi Final vs Dominion at HOME in the stadium 6pm. Plan to stay for the Boys Region Semi Final at 7:30 against Freedom right after our game.
- Thursday June 1st: Team Training 6pm-8pm practice turf
- Friday June 2nd: HOPEFULLY 4A North Regional Final Game
We will take Region Week one day at a time, and stay humbly confident that our preparation and heart will continue to shine through on the field. We know first hand that it is impossible to beat the opponent that never gives up, let's stay together, work hard and live our oneTEAMoneDREAM mission to the fullest!

What an awesome night celebrating our program, our families, our success and your daughters! We are grateful every day to be coaching this talented bunch of uniquely different and amazing group of girls and to be able to take a break from the field and spend time celebrating the people they are becoming is very special!
Lea Broyhill, you have a career in event planning should you ever decide to give up the library and along with your sidekicks, Danielle Paschuck and Lisa Broyhill, you threw a banquet the girls will never forget. Thank you for your planning, your hard work and your endless Pinterest creations...you are the wonderful!
Players and parents, we did rent a UHaul to carry home the gorgeous(and gigantic)gift baskets! What has gotten into you crazy generous people? We are very grateful and touched by the thoughtfulness of these beautiful gifts!
One housekeeping note: training tomorrow will begin at 4pm with some new team pictures with Mr Wharton in the stadium wearing our white skirt/white jersey. We will train right after the pictures.
Thank you again to everyone for such a wonderful night, our hearts are full and we are very proud to all share in our Riverside Girls Lacrosse Family!

RAMS!
What a crazy night! Congratulations on keeping the streak alive and taking home the Dulles West Conference Championship under some extraordinary circumstances...never did we expect to run into foul trouble and be forced to play man down for the entire 2nd half after receiving our 4th yellow card as a team. What these players did tonight was exceptional. They came together as a team and played some incredible man down defense holding the Wolverines to only 8 total goals, while managing to keep the midfield hot and creating efficient offense in the critical scoring area! Unbelievable work under any circumstance...extraordinary work with 25 full minutes of man down play against a highly skilled opponent. Job well done girls!
SCHEDULE FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK:
Tuesday May 23rd: 7:15am iHop team breakfast at the Ashburn location
Tuesday May 23rd: Team Banquet at Belmont Country Club! What perfect timing to celebrate our conference championship...doors open at 6pm
?Wednesday May 24th: Team training 4pm to 6pm practice turf
Thursday May 25th: Team training 6:45am practice turf
Friday May 26th: Team training 6:45am practice turf
Saturday May 27th: TBD
Monday May 29th: Team training 7pm practice turf
REGIONAL TOURNAMENT: Our win tonight secured us not only the conference championship but also a first round bye in the 6 team 4A North Regional Tournament. Coming out of our 3 conferences are 3 #1 seeds: Riverside(1), George Mason(2), Kettle Run(3) and 3 #2 seeds: Dominion(4), James Monroe(5) and Woodgrove(6). We will play the winner of the Thursday Dominion v James Monroe game on either May 30th or 31st. The winner of that game will advance to the regional final on June 1st or 2nd.
We will continue to train hard and play as a team,no matter what situation we find ourselves in; we are one team with one dream and we proved that tonight! The streak continues to burn, 15-0!

RAMFAM,
Thank you all for your patience, support and helping hands last night as we managed the weather interruption. We all know that spring weather is unpredictable and we have been so lucky that we have gotten this far without more complications.
THANK YOU! As we prepare for the 2nd half of our conference semi final game against Heritage today, I wanted to take a few minutes to thank our amazing parent base for taking such excellent care of the HERD! The post season is very exciting but it can also be grueling physically and emotionally. We are a young team and every little thing matters; the motivational messages from parents on game day, extra attention to gatorade and cold towels on the side line, food delivered right when we need it most even if it is to the cafeteria at 9pm during a lightning delay, beautiful treat bags on game day, surprise breakfast after morning training, getting email communications out to parents when we are trapped in a 100 degree team room waiting out weather delays, the list goes on and on...OUR parents are All Americans and we are very thankful for you!
WELCOME: We are thrilled to welcome the Keefe, Madden, McCorry and Pickering Families to the Varsity Squad for the post season! Hannah, Kara, Elle and Grace are excellent women on and off the field and we are very proud to have them join us moving forward. Buckle your seatbelts, we are in for a great journey together!

RAMS,
It is hard to believe that the final week of the regular season is here and that we will wrap up our first JV Season with the Rock Ridge game on Friday! With identical 13-0 records, we could not be more proud of our teams; great job everyone! Let's finish the season off properly this Friday at Rock Ridge as we look to improve our record to 14-0!
We are excited about the 4 day training pattern we have coming up this week; we have the early slot, 4pm to 6pm every day on the practice turf. Let's have fun together as a program and be perfectly prepared for what is to come!

Quick note on the BBQ: Misty Marelli, our amazing Team Mom is hard at work planning with the boys Team Moms on this event. We know that the prom is later that evening, so we are planning for this to be a fun, yet quick event so that you can all get your pre prom activities going!

- Conference Semi Final: Thursday May 18th at Riverside, 6pm
- Conference Final: Monday May 22nd at high seed
4A Northern Region Tournament: We have earned a guaranteed spot in the 4A Region tournament, regardless of the Conference Tournament outcome. Ultimately, the Region Tournament comes down to a 6 team tournament between the top 2 teams from Dulles East, Dulles West and Evergreen Conferences. The 2 teams that reach the Region Tournament Final will advance to the state tournament.
- Region Round 1: Thursday May 25th, high seed
- Region Semi Final: Tuesday May 30th, high seed
- Region Final: Thursday June 1st, high seed
4A State Tournament: (Not getting ahead of ourselves here, we are taking this one step at a time!) The 2 teams in the Region Final will advance to the State Tournament.
- State Semi Final: Tuesday/Wednesday June 6th/7th at high seed
- State Final: Saturday June 10th at Roanoke College
Rams, this is a lot of information. More than anything we want you to be looped in from a scheduling perspective. Post season play allows us an opportunity to come together, reset, fine tune, dig deep and take things literally one ball at a time. We will do our very best to be prepared for wherever this incredible journey continues to take us. This we know: we will take each step as they come and we will take these steps TOGETHER!

Most importantly, be prepared for anything. Pack all uniform items, training gear, layers, running shoes and turf shoes
7.0 years ago @ 10:11PM
The word of the week is going to be flexibility! Here are a couple of scenarios for training tomorrow based on what the turf status is after school:
SCENARIO 1: The turf is open and we train from 4pm to 5:30pm in a modified rotation.
SCENARIO 2: Turf is not playable and we train inside 6pm to 8pm main gym
SCENARIO 3: LCPS closes school and there is no training
Please continue to be flexible and come prepared with clothes and shoes for inside/outside. Thanks so much for your patience!

Team,
Please join me in a heartfelt THANK YOU to Mrs Kim and Mrs Lutz; these ladies are like the post office, delivering meals to our players in rain, sleet, snow, freezing temps…nothing stops them! They were out on the turf yesterday, FREEZING I am sure, with all the meals until we released the girls from training as a storm was rolling in and plow trucks were circling…the team was very happy to have a Panera treat waiting for them! We sure appreciate everything you are doingJ
TEAM PASTA DINNER NUMBER ONE: Thank you to the Paschuck Family for an amazing Team Dinner on Sunday night! We appreciate you welcoming the team into your home and fueling them up with your homemade pasta. Team dinners are a critical time for the team to bond off the field and we appreciate everyone who is willing to host!
Coach Madi and I have high hopes that our home turf will respond quickly to the sun and significantly less snow than expected; we need the stadium to be playable by Thursday for our home opener against Brentsville! We will keep you updated as details emerge…
SCHEDULE FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS:
- Tuesday: as long as there is school or a delay we will train as planned 4pm to 5:45 practice turf
- Wednesday: training 4pm to 5:45pm practice turf
- Thursday: Brentsville game, JV and Varsity 6pm/7:15pm
- Friday: training 6:45am to 8am practice turf
- Saturday: training 8am to 10am Stadium Field, monthly player evals to follow
PLAYER EVALS: We have monthly player evals to keep our team focused on continued development, goaling and what drives winning as individuals as well as from a team perspective. We want open lines of communication with our players and these small sided evaluation meetings are a great opportunity to connect with our team 1v1.
Hope everyone is enjoying this snow day!

RAM Girls Lacrosse,
Welcome to Riverside Spring Tryout 2017! Tomorrow we officailly begin our 2nd competitive season of RAMS Girls Lacrosse, and we welcome this milestone as a great opportunity to builld on the tradition we created in our innaugural year and expand our footprint on 4A Lacrosse in Loudoun County.
TRYOUT DAY ONE: TOMORROW MORNING 8AM TO 11AM ON THE STADIUM
The Lacrosse Weather Gods are shining on us this year and the weather predicted is going to be unseasonably warm and sunny; come prepared. Here are a few notes from the coaching team for our players to be best prepared for our tryout tomorrow morning:
- Today/tonight: hydrate, fuel up and rest
- Tomorrow: arrive by 7:45am to check in and get your pinnie
- TRYOUT ATTIRE: we will issue you a pinnie for tryouts. Please wear black shorts and a white tshirt to the tryout. If you wouldlike to purchase a Riverside Lacrosse white tshirt that will be approved for training, please bring $10 for each to tryouts and our Director of Operations will give you one, or more.
- Bring a filled water bottle and a nutrient packed snack, fruit, complex carbs, replacement bar, etc. This is a 3 hour tryout and we have a recovery element scheduled into the tryout; you will want this snack for that time.
- We will have coolers of water and diluted gatorade at the field to refill, but you will want your own water bottle tomorrow to avoid waiting in line to use the Athletic Department alloted 6 bottles.
- We will being promptly at 7:59am and wrap up by 11am so that you can coordinate rides.
- Illness/emergency in the morning: please text Coach KASH
Get a great night's sleep and look forward to a great day on the tryout field with all of you!

RAMS,
Great to see you taking full advantage of the "open door" policy on the practice turf! We are very grateful to the Athletic Department for allowing us to use the facilities and we ask you to thank them for their generosity by taking excellent care of the field. Couple thoughts to consider to keep the Open Door Policy working:
- Trash needs to be thrown away
- Please close the door so the wind doesn't catch an open door and break the hinges
- Leave it just the way that you found it; put cages back against the fence, etc...
We are a first class operation, let's lead by example on the field and off the field, thanks!

4 WEEK SCHEDULE:
PHASE II 6:45am Riverside Weight Room: January 24th, 26th, 31st, February 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th and 16th
?Green Days 4pm to 5:30pm STADIUM: TODAY January 19th, 26th, February 2nd, 9th, 16th

Good morning RAMS,
In 5 short weeks our program will transition from pre season trainings, lifting and Green Days to the tryout field. This is an incredibly exciting time for our coaching team and all potential players; this is the moment when the rubber hits the road and all the early mornings in the weight room and the frigid afternoons at fall/winter Green Days pay off. We are in the athletic homestretch to tryouts right now as PHASE 2 builds to peak strength/power over the next 5 weeks...this is the base of your athleticism and every session in the weight room matters, whether you are participating in PHASE 2 or doing something on your own. Get your workouts in! For those enrolled in PHASE 2, BBF will allow makeups for any missed sessions at their facility in the afternoons. Please coordinate this through DD.
Over the next 5 weeks we are focused on building max strength/power and training more intensely in lacrosse specific sprint, footwork speed in cutting and drop stepping.
This week we continue on Thursday with PHASE 2 at 6:45am in the weight room and then Green Day training on the stadium at 4pm.

RAM Families,
Welcome back from what we hope was a relaxing and wonderful holiday time with friends and family!
I am reaching out to our Riverside Girls Lacrosse family network this morning to rally our forces behind the fundraising/concession assistance. It has come to our attention that many volunteer slots at the concession stands are going unfilled...not only do we want to keep the concession running strong for the great service it provides to fans in attendance at games, but also because each volunteer time slot represents $10 of fundraising money directly to the team account that you choose. In our case, every time a parent, OR a student accompanied by a parent volunteers for a concession time slot, our Girls Lacrosse account grows by $10. These funds are crucial to our program; this account offsets the cost of training gear, team activities, equipment, etc...
Please consider signing up for an open time slot and be sure to note Riverside Girls Lacrosse as the benefactor. Think how much fun a few of our crazy wonderful moms could have running the concession stand together:)
Thank you for your continued support of RAM Girls Lacrosse

RamFam,
The weather predicted for tomorrow afternoon puts us clearly in the "dangerous if outside" category. We are cancelling our Green Day as a result of the cold and predicted wind chill. Enjoy the afternoon off; get your homework done and get your holiday shopping started...your parents deserve amazing gifts for everything they do for you!
PHASE II will take place as scheduled from 6:45am to 8am in the weight room.
Next Wednesday we will meet at 4pm in the Library for our Holiday Hooplah. The players have decided they want to do a small gift exchange ($20 each). Please bring your gift and a treat to share!

RAMS,
We kick off the Indoor Box League this Sunday at Dulles SportsPlex with a JV game at 1:15 and a Varsity game at 3:15pm. I know that several of you are still interested in registering for the league, please use the link below and complete registration ASAP. Even if you are a RETURNING player, please use this link(it says Riverside JV) and we will internally adjust players:
https://tms.ezfacility.com/OnlineRegistrations/ManageMembership.aspx?GroupID=1679082&ClientID=7952002
We currently have 2 teams registered, one JV(new players) and one Varsity(returning players). We chose to roster our teams in this way because we are a program right now, we have not had tryouts and the only fair way to divide our program into Box League "Teams" is new/returning. We will not use the word TEAMS in reference to our program until tryouts are complete on February 24th. It has come to my attention that some parents are concerned about the competition level at the JV level. Please know that we are in discussion with Dulles SportsPlex about this situation and we will make the appropriate decision. For this weekend, we will stay with the posted schedule, JV at 1:15pm and Varsity at 3:15pm.

We are midway through the first quarter. This is a great time to evaluate where you stand academically, figure out what challenges you might have and get extra help if you need it. Please reach out to me if you need help with classes/tutors/extra help and we will help get you connected with resources. We expect every player in our program to put academics first; use the out of season semesters to get your grades/workload balanced so that when we are in season you will have an easier transition to maintaining high academic standards along with a full training schedule.

I just got back to school after getting the balloons and a team vote had apparently taken place to NOT walk in the parade, LOL! This group maybe will melt in the rain? Not sure, but this was a team decision to not participate based on the weather and the fact that they were already freezing in the outfits from spirit day.
We will show up loud and proud at the parade next year!
Good luck to our boys TONIGHT!

The weather is on our side for the parade today! Let's get our spirit ON! Here's the plan:
- Meet outside the Library right after school
- I will get balloons to decorate Marissa's truck
- We can climb in the truck/walk next to it/whatever works
- Parade leaves from the front parking lot at 5pm. The route will go down Belmont Ridge Rd to a right on Riverpoint Dr and then make a square as it will then turn back up Kipheart Drive to the school.
- Parade will end in plenty of time to get back and into the stadium for kickoff
Thank you to Mrs Klein for driving the RAMS Lacrosse Truck/Float:)

RAMS,
We are trying to make the best call on our float prep session originally scheduled for today at 6pm during our normal Green Day. Riverside SCA will decide tomorrow by 2:30pm if we will have the floats/parade. Based on the uncertainty, we are going to CANCEL the float prep for today and allow you to spend this much needed time on homework.
IF the float/parade is a go following the decision tomorrow, we will meet right after school outside the library and get ourselves organized. Please be prepared for anything:
- Wear/bring a white girls lacrosse tshirt to wear on the float(I have extras if you need/borrow one and if you want to keep it they are only $15)
- Bring your sticks
- We will use Marissa's truck
- I will get balloons
- RAM suit
See you all tomorrow!!

Phase 1 Day 1 and Green Day #1 are in the books! Today was an exceptional start to what promises to be an exciting year of RAMS Girls Lacrosse...
- Excellent work in the weight room this morning
- Impressive program chemistry tonight at our Green Day within 15 minutes; your ability to work hard and play unselfish, fast lacrosse was appreciated by the entire coaching team
- Your 5 words or less speed round at the end of training was very telling...you all focused on team concepts, your words were very well thought out and a great tone to kick off this exciting building year
We are looking forward to Day 2 on Thursday. Please be sure to rest, eat properly and get your homework done as we begin to ramp up training. You are students first and we are working hard to create "studletes"; all stars in the classroom and on the field.
Couple items to consider:
- Please email me directly if you need to be added to the TeamSnap, kristan.ash@lcps.org
- RAMS, it is CRITICAL that we keep the Team Room clean following morning training. The wonderful Mrs Peyton is in charge of going through the locker room after teams use it and we want to leave it as clean as we found. Please make every effort to leave it spotless. Keep it CLASSY:)
See you all Thursday...#5wordsorless

Great turnout on Tuesday night for our Year 2 KICKOFF! Thank you to everyone that joined us and welcome to Riverside RAMS Girls Lacrosse.
We distributed a lot of information at the KICKOFF Meeting, including Green Day schedules, Fall Brawl information and complete details of our strength/speed/agility program for 2016/2017. If you missed the meeting, you can get this information in several ways:
- All documents will be emailed out on the TeamSnap site
- Hard copies are available in my office in the school counseling office
At the KICKOFF Meeting we fielded the question about in season athletes participating in off season trainings/lifting. We have clarified every scenario with the Athletic Department so that we are in complete compliance with all VHSL rules:
- ?Can a player that is "in season" participate in Green Day for their out of season sport? YES
- Can a player that is "in season" participate in team lifting/conditioning/strength with their out out of season sport? YES
- Riverside Girls Lacrosse supports multi sport athletes and we ask parents/players honor their commitment to the in season team in the same way we will expect them to honor that commitment to our team when we are in season. We ask that each family make a responsible decision for their athlete when balancing in season:out of season participation.
- We welcome all returning players and new players to our complete off season programming beginning next Tuesday September 13th with PHASE I at 6:45am in the weight room IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED PAPERWORK. We need all 5 pieces turned into the Athletic Office by Monday morning so we can clear you to train.
- Please email me directly if you need to be added to TeamSnap and spread the word that you must join Riversiderams.net to get all the details
We have a BIG year ahead of RAMS, let's get back to work and continue to create history in year 2!

RAMS, Unfortunately we are going to have to cancel our scheduled Green Day for tomorrow. There has been some damage on the practice turf and our goal is destroyed. We are disappointed that the generosity the Athletic Department showed by leaving out a goal was handled in this manner. We thank you for always respecting our school, our facilities and our staff. You make us all proud and although we are disappointed that we will not be training tomorrow, we will be back to work the week following 4th of July week with our Wednesday Green Days. Stay tuned for a potential time change that would eliminate the direct conflict with Field Hockey Green Days, possibly a 9am start. Thanks everyone!

RAMS, This email was originally sent yesterday but I am seeing that it was never delivered and must still be scrolling through the Riversiderams.net system, my apologies! Tonight there is an NHS sponsored Powder Puff football game at 6:30pm. We are altering our Green Day training originally scheduled for today at 4pm to GOING TO THE POWDER PUFF GAME at 6:30pm to support NHS and our juniors and seniors that are playing in the game. We considered doing both, but after gauging the team on homework load this week, it seems like the best approach is to allow athletes to complete their school work this afternoon and then attend the game to support NHS/our friends and teammates. Next week we are back in action with Green Days on Tuesday and Thursday.
