Rams,
We started things off on November 6, 2023, with a whole bunch of 400 freestyle swims, some nervousness, excitement, and uncertainty about what would come. The 3+ months that we got to spend together wrapped up last night with a great performance at States. Now, we get to celebrate our season at our End-of-Season Party on Thursday.
I look forward to spending time with you, reviewing the season, and celebrating everything that you accomplished in such a short time.
Parents, our organizational committee needs some help for Thursday. Please sign up to provide them with some support.

Rams,
What a fantastic week of fun for Rams Swimming and a great wrap-up to a great regular season. From the synchronized swimming to the spirit contests to the Boys vs Girls meet, and then Saturday’s parade and celebration of our seniors, we showed everyone that no one has more fun than us!
We are now ready for the post-season. Coach Keeton and I have put together a line-up that we think gives us the best opportunity to score well at Regionals and move as many swimmers on to States as possible. We will review the line-up and give you our vision on Monday at the start of practice.
Parents – we need your help filling our last volunteer role, a Stroke & Turn official. Please take this on and help us out. We will be extremely grateful.

Only swimmers who are entered in Regionals are to attend practices this week. Please note that the main entrance of the Potomac Club is closed for renovations. We must enter through the side door, which is located next to the construction zone, and closer to the main parking area.
We encourage everyone to attend the meet on Saturday. In fact, if you are not entered in Regionals and want to come with the team on the bus, you may. However, I need to know by Tuesday at 5:00 pm if you are attending (this is only for non-entrants), so please email me to notify me. If you do not notify me, you can drive yourself.
All swimmers participating in Regionals are required to ride the bus with the team to the meet. If you do not wish to ride the bus back to school with the team after the meet, I need WRITTEN notification (email, please) from a parent by 5:00 pm on Thursday.
Here is the schedule for this week:

Rams,
I hope that everyone has enjoyed “Winter Break, Part II” and is well-rested and ready for the second half of the school year AND an exciting week for Riverside Swimming.
This is our final week of the regular season and we have so much happening. It is going to be fantastic! We have synchronized swimming on Tuesday, our Boys vs Girls Meet on Wednesday, a Pasta Party on Friday at Farman’s, and our Senior Parade and Senior Meet against Briar Woods on Saturday. This is going to be amazing!
First the business item:
For Saturday, we need a runner and two (2!) stroke and turn officials. Here’s the link - https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0A44AEAE22AA8-46136396-tuscarora#/
We cannot have the meet without the stroke and turn officials. Please sign up!!!
Boys vs Girls Meet and Events
The Girls hold a 20-point lead entering this week.
Tuesday – During practice, we will record your synchronized swimming routines. The recordings will be shared with the Riverside staff, and they will vote on the winner, who will earn 5 points.
Wednesday – This is each team’s opportunity to show off its team spirit. Riverside staff will vote on which team shows the best team spirit during the day at school. 5 points are available for this. Then, we race during practice. The captains have submitted the lineups and the meet program is posted - https://bigteams-public-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/library/files/riversideathletics.bigteams_com_145966/files/Boys%20vs%20Girls%20Meet%20Program.pdf.
At the end of the meet, the Medal of Honor will be awarded to the winning team.
Senior Day Celebration
On Saturday, we celebrate our 7(!) seniors. We’ll kick things off with our parade during which we’ll visit every senior’s house, deliver gifts, and annoy their neighbors with celebratory noise. Each senior will join the parade as we work our way through the neighborhoods and, after celebrating our final senior on the route, we’ll caravan to Claude Moore for our meet with Briar Woods. During the break of the meet, we’ll hold our “Senior Night” ceremony at the break after 50 freestyle. (Note: Briar Woods is also celebrating their Senior Night as they had to postpone from this weekend because of the weather). I’ll send more information out about the parade route, timing, etc. momentarily.

Rams,
Yesterday was fantastic! You showed all of Loudoun County why the Riverside teams are the best in the county. Your spirit, energy, and support of one another was incredible. It was great to be a part of…so great that OTHER TEAMS’ swimmers wanted to hang out with us in our team area.
And you delivered in the pool with some incredible swims. The Boys improved in 68% (17/25) of their races and the Girls improved in 81% (22/27)! And some of the improvements were incredible – if you missed Jackson Carrier’s 100 Breast swim, you missed one for the ages! That was amazing! In addition, Lizzie Rebich qualified for states in the 200 free and the 100 fly, and HT Tragle earned All-American Consideration in the 100 fly.
I have not received the results from the meet yet, but as soon as I do, I will post them.
On Saturday, we face off against Briar Woods. This is always an exciting meet, and the Boys will be aiming to capture the District Championship with a victory. It’s going to be fun. I am delayed in creating the lineup because of the delay in results. I will have the lineup for you before practice tomorrow.
Parents – we need a couple volunteers for Saturday, including a Stroke & Turn official and a runner. Please sign up - https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0A44AEAE22AA8-46136388-briar#/

Rams,
Friday night was a great start to 2024. You came in energized and excited to race, and it showed in the pool. It was so fun to have so many Riverside alumni back and supporting the team, and I’m glad that you got to meet some of them and see how much the team meant (and still means) to them and their high school experience.
This week is an exciting one. We have the Briar Woods Invitational meet on Saturday and we’ll get to compete against every high school in Loudoun County. It is going to be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to some great races. I have sent the lineup to you via Remind. Please do not share information included in it (what you/others are swimming) with other teams.
Some details about Saturday:
- Meet is at Claude Moore.
- The entire team will travel together by bus to the meet. The bus will leave Riverside at 8:00 am. All swimmers are to attend, not just those entered in the meet.
- Warmups run from 8:40 am to 10:00 am. We will have a scheduled time that I will share once I receive it.
- Gates open to the public at 9:30 am. The cost for entry (nonvolunteers) is $7.00.
- Meet programs will be on sale for $3.00 each at the meet.
- There will be a volunteer/officials meeting at 9:45 am.
- If swimmers want to ride home with their parents after the meet and not take the bus, I need to be notified via email by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
We FINALLY have a full week of practice this week. Come ready to work hard as we are running out of time this season. Believe it or not, we only have 9 scheduled practices remaining for the remainder of the regular season. That’s 9 opportunities to make a difference, a change, or a new habit that will affect race day!
NOTE: You need to bring a t-shirt (cotton, not dry-fit) to swim in at practice on Wednesday this week.
Here is your schedule for the week of January 8.
Monday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45-6:00 pm
Tuesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm

Rams,
Yesterday came with some challenges -- we were a bit short-handed due to illnesses, many of you are a bit under the weather or battling some injuries, and we are mentally tired from our academic demands that face us at this time of year. You fought through all of this, focused on the NOW and had some great swims and earned strong wins – Riverside’s 98th and 99th wins of the program (in 8 ½ seasons!).
You did this through hard work, fast swimming, and energetic support of one another. Team does make a difference. Keep fighting for one another and great things will happen.
Believe it or not, we are now at the middle of the regular season. We have a total of 7 weeks remaining – a full week of practice this week, two shortened weeks of during winter break and then our crazy stretch of 4 dual meets and the Briar Woods Invitational Championship meet in the 4 weeks of January. We cannot lose focus or slack off now. We have begun the season strongly and have championship opportunities (Briar Woods Invite and District Championship). We cannot slack off now and lose focus on what our teams can accomplish together.
This week, we’ll have two great practices on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, we’ll have our Battle in the Pool and determine our King and Queen of the Pool for 2023-24. Who will win this year’s crowns? It’s going to be a lot of fun.
To help you plan, here is your schedule over the next 3 weeks.
For the week of December 18:
Monday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45-6:00 pm
Tuesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm
Wednesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm – Battle in the Pool!
For the week of December 25 (Optional Practices – Broad Run’s team will practice with us):
Monday: OFF – Merry Christmas!
Tuesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm
Wednesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm
For the week of January 1:
Monday: OFF – Happy New Year!
Tuesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm
Wednesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm
Thursday: Team Meeting, 4:30-5:15 pm
Friday: Meet vs Lightridge at Ida Lee, 7:00 pm
Saturday: Meet vs Rock Ridge at Claude Moore, 12:00 pm.
Enjoy your time with your family. Get some rest and get ready for the final Sprint of the Season!
Have a fantastic Holiday Season and Happy New Year.

Rams,
That was a challenging weekend and you all rose to the challenge. Not only did we have multiple meets (Friday & Saturday for RVHS and the NCAP Invite) but also, we had to overcome illnesses and other issues to come together as a team. I thank you for your hard work, determination, mental toughness, and dedication to the team that led to our victory over Independence. Even more, I thank you for your ability to have fun and show that Riverside Swimming is the best team around.
Earning our first win against Independence yesterday was fantastic. This sets us up for a show-down with Briar Woods next month for the District Championship. But first, we must take care of business along the way. We have a meet on Saturday against Stone Bridge and then a long break from racing, so let’s enjoy yesterday’s performance today and then refocus on improving tomorrow.
We have three important practices this week to get ourselves ready for Saturday. Details. Details. Details. Focus on what you are doing throughout each practice. We need to create new habits, fine-tune skills, and push ourselves a little bit harder now to get the improvement that we want as the season progresses. For the next several weeks, it’s time to “get comfortable with being uncomfortable” so that we can achieve our season goals.
Parents – We need one more stroke and turn official for Saturday’s meet. Please sign up.

I’ll be posting Saturday’s line-up soon.
Here is your schedule for the week of December 11.

The Riverside Rams Swim Teams had a busy weekend with two meets. On Friday night, the team traveled to Manassas to race against a Virginia Class 6 Team, Patriot High School. Rams,
What a great start to the season! You were ready, you were focused on what you needed to do, you supported your teammates, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, had a lot of fun. Getting things going with excellent wins, 8 state cuts, and a ton of energy is exciting. Now we head into a challenging week.
We have two meets this week – Patriot on Friday and Independence on Saturday. Friday is a fun meet, and we want to make sure we bring the spirit and energy to show Patriot who the best team in the area is. Then…Saturday is the battle with Independence. This is always a tough one and has Championship implications for both the Boys and Girls teams. We’re going to have some fun!
On Friday, the entire team will travel together by bus to the meet. The bus will leave Riverside at 5:15 pm. If swimmers want to ride home with their parents after the meet and not take the bus, I need to be notified via email by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Swimmers, please bring your swim bags to school with you on Friday. You may leave them in my classroom for the day.
I will be placing an order from Panera for boxed lunches to be delivered for us to eat before we leave school. If you would like to place an order, please do so by 5pm on Wednesday. Here is the link to place your order. You can order as many sandwich/salad boxed lunches as you want. They are $12 each.
https://forms.gle/EkmJtsR3THnvaDBX9
I will send out the link for you to make payments once the school sets up the payment portal for me.
I am working on finalizing the line-ups for our two meets. I will post them today.
Here is your schedule for the week of December 4.
Monday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45-6:00 pm
Tuesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm
Wednesday: Practice at Lansdowne, 4:45 -6:00 pm

Saturday: Swim Meet vs Independence, warm-ups start at 12:00 pm at Claude Moore. Be at the pool, ready to swim at 11:45 am.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we’ll see you at the pool Monday.

Rams,
Welcome to the 2023-24 Riverside Rams swim season. Coach Keeton and I are excited to get started and to have a fantastic season.
We get things rolling with a busy schedule this week – first practices, team picture, parents meeting, and team meeting. Yes, that’s normal for the season that is definitely a sprint – a fun, fast, and fantastic time.
Who will earn the first points in the Boys vs Girls meet? The Girls have the lead for all 20 points. Will the Boys recover quickly enough to mount a come-back? Current situation:
Report Cards – Girls 91% (21/23); Boys 86% (18/21)
Questionnaire – Girls 96% (22/23); Boys 81% (17/21)
Payments – Girls 61% (14/23); Boys 43% (9/21)
Concussion – Girls 36% (10/23); Boys 19% (4/21)
Please remind your parents that the Riverside Winter Sports meeting is at school on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. I’d like to encourage all parents to attend so that they don’t miss any information from the athletic department (VHSL and LCPS rules and regulations). In addition, there will be a swim team only session following the athletic department’s presentation. We’ll be meeting in the auditorium.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be getting in some great workouts as we prepare for our first meet on December 3. Be ready to practice HARD over the coming weeks. Your practice lane assignments is attached.
If you have not already done so, purchase/organize your equipment: Suit, Goggles, Pull Buoys, Fins, and Snorkel. Bring your equipment with you to every practice and make sure you have a water bottle (full) for each practice!
We always start and finish on time. Do not be late. We are in the water and swimming right at the start of practice. Also, we request that all parents to please be at the pool to pick up your swimmers by 6:00 pm. This will avoid having swimmers (and coaches) standing outside in the cold waiting for pick-ups.
We welcome you to show your team spirit and demonstrate support for the team by purchasing and wearing some official Rams Swim Team gear. The online store closes, tomorrow, Monday, November 13. Your orders will be delivered to school for distribution. There’s some great stuff available. Check it out!

You can purchase your TEAM SUIT and any swim equipment, or any other items, that you need through the Riverside Rams Swim Team Store on SwimOutlet - https://www.swimoutlet.com/rvhsramsswim/
You can purchase any swim items that you want/need on SwimOutlet and by entering through the Rams Swim Team Store, the team earns a residual payment.
If you have not paid for your team shirt, caps, or jackets, please do that immediately:
