Golf team should arrive at 8:50 a.m. at the stadium for their pictures. Please bring picture forms and make sure rides are arranged afterward to get to practice. 

This week in RHS Golf:

Sun., 8/6 - Range Pick at Lansdowne. Mandatory. 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Mon., 8/7 - Match vs. Woodgrove, 8 a.m. Tee times start at 9 a.m. All golfers will play 18 holes.

Tues., 8/8 - Pictures at Riverside at 9:15 a.m. Practice afterward at Lansdowne until approx. 12 p.m. 

Weds., 8/9 - Match vs. Loudoun Valley. 6 golfers playing meet at RHS at 6:30 a.m. 

Thurs., 8/10 - Practice at Lansdowne, Course Work. 8:30 a.m.

Fri., 8/11 - Practice at Riverside, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. 

Please bring names and addresses for Letter Fundraiser on Tuesday.

Picture forms will be given out at the range pick. Please bring forms Tuesday if you are interested in ordering pictures. 

We will play matches if the course is open during rain.  Come prepared. Coach Ingalls will contact all golfers if times change or weather causes delays.

Weather looks great so far for the next few days. 1 p.m. tomorrow at Lansdowne and meet by the driving range.

- Please bring snacks and water. Soda does not quench thirst and energy drinks are not permitted. 

- Be on time. Tardiness shows you think your time is more important than the team's.

- 14 clubs and enough golf balls to get you through the round.

- Parents may not watch or follow along at tryouts. Welcome to attend matches/tournaments.

- Do not plan on warm-up time at the course. If we can, we will tee off early to get everyone moving and go to the lower putting green for a few minutes prior. We will move to the first tee together.

- We will do putting skills following the round if time allows. Plan on wrapping up around, if not before, 5:30 p.m.

- Proper golf attire is required. Collared shirts and appropriate shorts.

Day 1 - Meet at Lansdowne at 1 p.m.

Modified 9-hole round on Norman Course

All pars will remain as stated on scorecard.

Golfers will play Hole #1 from 100 yds, from 150 yards on #2, and then the appropriate tee box from #3-9 (Gentleman - White; Ladies - Green). Golfers will have a maximum of 45 shots to play. Scores will be recorded but once 45 shots have been played, golfer will mark on the scorecard where they picked up and their round will be complete. There will be no stroke limit on individual holes. After completion of all rounds, we will move to the putting green for practice/competitions as time permits.

Day 2 - Meet at Lansdowne at 8:30 a.m. 

Modified Sharkbite Round

Golfers will play a 9-hole round on Sharkbite course. Teeing grounds will vary and some holes will be short game tests ranging from bunker play to adverse situations. Details will be given out prior to the round.

Day 3 - Meet at Lansdowne at 8:30 a.m.

Putting/Short Game Followed by Team Selection

Putting competitions and skills challenges on short-game facility as allowed. Team Selection will happen immediately following and players making the team should plan on staying for approximately 90 minutes for a team meeting and putting/range practice as we have a tournament the following day.

A few reminders:

- Refresh yourself on yellow/red hazard markings. We will not play any O.B. or lost ball stroke/distance penalties. All lost ball situations will be played as Red Hazards.

- There are no gimmies. All golfers must putt out.

- Only 14 golf clubs and make sure you have extra golf balls.

- All golfers will carry their bags.

- Bring water and snacks. One granola bar in the summer afternoon heat is not enough.

- Weather is unpredictable so adjustments will be made as necessary. This may include lengthening practice, cutting activities short, or playing in the rain. Come prepared.

Tryout times for the 2017 season:

July 31st: All golfers report to Lansdowne at 1 p.m. Tee times will begin on the Norman Course at 2 p.m. There is no guarantee of range usage prior to tryouts so please come prepared. 

August 1st: All golfers report to Lansdowne at 8:30 a.m. Tee times will begin on Sharkbite at 9:30 a.m. 

August 2nd: All golfers report to Lansdowne at 9 a.m. Approximately 2-hour Short Game/Putting skills challenge immediately followed by cuts. Any golfers selected for the team should plan on a team meeting following cuts to discuss the season and upcoming tournaments. 

No range or course privileges prior to the season are extended to Riverside Golfers from Lansdowne so please do not contact the course asking for range time or tee times for that reason.
