Please report to Lansdowne Golf Club at 12 p.m. Please wear sunscreen and bring snacks and water for the round. Properly hydrate in the morning and eat before you arrive to ensure you have energy since it will be hot outside. Players will be walking so plan snacks and drinks accordingly. Warm-up in the morning as there may not be time or space for everyone to warm-up before we play the course. Go, Rams!

Tryout times are as follows:
8/1 - 12 p.m. at Lansdowne. We will meet near the starter's podium. General information and reminder of format for the day and Mr. Oblas and/or Mr. Weeren will confirm all paperwork. First tee time is 1 p.m.
8/2 - 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Lansdowne. Only putter and all wedges needed.
8/3 - 11 a.m. at Lansdowne. First tee time is 12 p.m. on Shark Bite.
There will be minimal to no warm-up on the range before the tryout dates if the number of golfers interested show up for tryouts. Please take the time to warm up in the morning via exercise, stretching, mobility drills and take some swings outside or go to a range if possible just in case. There will be time to putt before we move to the first tee for all golfers.
The next Rules/Etiquette meeting will be Thursday, July 21st from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. after conditioning/green day practice. Any golfer who was not on the team last year and did not come today should attend.
Let Coach Ingalls know if you have any questions.
Go, Rams!

Please e-mail Coach Ingalls by Friday, July 15th if you are definitely trying out for the golf team this year. Tee times need to be scheduled at the course for our three days of tryouts.
All paperwork needs to be completed and turned in prior to the first day of tryouts. Please take care of this ASAP.

The remaining practice/conditioning days for this summer:
June 29th and 30th, July 14th, 18th, 20th, and 21st. We will practice from 9 - 11 a.m. at RHS either on the practice field or in the grass area nearby. Please bring a wedge for 50 yds. and in shots and a mid-iron plus water and a beach towel/mat for ground work.
Rules/Etiquette meetings will be held immediately after practices on the 14th and 20th of July. All rising freshman trying out and current RHS students who were not on the team last year need to be in attendance at one of these meetings. The meeting will last for approximately an hour.
Reminder about tryout formats. These are given so players can practice some situations:
Day 1: All golfers start at 100 yds and must shoot par or better. On hole #2, golfers will move back to 150 yds and must shoot par or better to move back to 200 yds. on hole #3. Ideally, by hole #5 golfers would be on their appropriate tee box. If par or better is not scored, the golfer will remain at the previous yardage on the next hole.
Day 2: Skills challenge which will consist mostly of putting and short-game shots. Putts of any range from 1 - 50 ft. with various breaks and scramble situations from bunkers, rough, and various lies around the green will be presented. Examples would be: sink 3 of 5 10-ft putts; up and down from 30 yds., 4 of 5 bunker shots within 8 ft. circle on green, up and down from side-hill below your feet lie.
Day 3: 9-holes on Shark Bite with altered tee locations and par unchanged on the card. Players may be asked to start the hole behind a tree, from a greenside bunker, or having incurred a penalty to handle performance under pressure and recovery from mistakes.
Please let Coach Ingalls know if you have any questions.
