Nick Worek

Head Varsity Coach

Boys Varsity Lacrosse

In addition to being the Head Boys Lacrosse Coach, Coach Worek also serves as the Department Chair of Health and PE here at Riverside HS.

Coach Worek is a native of Fairfax, VA. He played three sports at Fairfax High School (Football, Basketball, and Lacrosse). He was then fortunate to play lacrosse at the Virginia Military Institute.

Coach Worek has a beautiful wife, Brittany, who is also a teacher at Riverside and two amazing twin boys, Zach and Kyle. 

Coach Worek started coaching at Chantilly HS from 2006-2010:

  • Varsity Assistant and Head JV Coach.
  • While at Chantilly, he helped in winning a 6A State Championship in 2008 and was a State runner-up in 2009.
  • As a JV Head Coach compiled a record of 36-1-1 in 3 years.

Coach Worek became the Head Coach at Thomas Jefferson HSST from 2011-2012:

  • qualifying them for the region tournament both years.
  • Liberty District Coach of the Year honors in 2012
  • Two year record of 13-14

Coach Worek became the Head Coach at McLean HS from 2013-2015:

  • In his first year at McLean High School, he led the Highlanders to the Region Tournament for the first time in 10 years.
  • Liberty District Coach of the Year honors in 2013
  • 2015 McLean team won the Liberty District regular season championship.
  • While at McLean, he compiled a record of 34-14 and helped many players achieve their dreams of playing NCAA Sports.

Coach Worek became the Head Coach at Riverside HS in 2016:

  • In the inaugural season 2016 compiled a record of 11-5
    • Including a playoff victory vs. the defending state champions in Loudoun Valley
  • In 2017 Riverside went 20-0

      • In 2017 Coach Worek was named:
        • Dulles West Conference Coach of the Year

        • US Lacrosse Coach of the Year (Loudoun Zone)
  • In 2018 Riverside went 17-2 
    • Dulles West Conference Champions

    • State Semi-Final Appearance
      • In 2018 Coach Worek was named:
        • 4A North Regional Coach of the Year
  • In 2019 Riverside went 18-2
    • 4A North Regional Champions

*Over the past 9 seasons at Riverside, Coach Worek and Staff have compiled an overall record of 135-16 (Winning Percentage 89%).

Coach Worek has also coached in the club scene for many summers.

  • FuZe Lacrosse Club for 3 different summers.
  • Cavalier Lacrosse Club

In the fall of 2014 Coach Worek was a member of the “Check Smart Committee” in Fairfax County to help educate, promote safe play, and eliminate the use of the head in the game of lacrosse.

Coach Worek is excited to continue the tradition of excellence that has started here at Riverside. Teaching students to be the best lacrosse players they can be, but more importantly the best sons, students, and people they can be!
