The Lady Rams suffered a home loss dealt by visiting John Champe Knights. With scores of 23-25, 22-25, and 21-25, Riverside fought for control but couldn't quite edge out Champe. The 21 kills, two solo blocks, one double block, and five aces proved to be just a hair short of what the Rams needed to win. Set one was a constant battle back and forth with the lead exchanging hands several times before Champe took the final two points when the score was 23-23. Set two was a Knights dominated set with Champe leading the majority of the time while Riverside played catch up. Several times the Rams managed to tie the score up, but they couldn't push through to take the lead except for once in the set. Riverside bounced back in set three and jumped ahead in the beginning. John Champe caught up quickly, took the lead, and held on for the remainder of the match. The Lady Rams showed a spark of life at the end of the third set as they battled against a daunting match point situation for a handful of points. Riverside returns to action next Tuesday in the second to last regular season match as they host the Patriots from Park View.
