IMPORTANT INFO AND FUTURE PLANNING
Please Note:
*Athletic paperwork must be on file in the A.D's office.
* Green = on court with a basketball * Blue = strength & conditioning
*Players must attend practices regularly in order to be considered for the Fall Shoot Out events.
NEW: Weekly BLUE Day Workout Requirement
Participation in the BLUE Day Workout is essential each week before taking part in Green Day activities. If you miss a BLUE Day Workout, you must complete a make-up session at the beginning of the next Green Day before being allowed in drills.
Rationale: This policy emphasizes the importance of strength, conditioning, and injury prevention work done as a team/group on BLUE Days.
* *For students in PE weight training, an alternate plan to work different muscle groups will be provided. Please see Coach Shockley or Coach Simmons when you report to the weight room.

Try-Outs will be held on Nov 11, 12 & 13.
*Players trying out for the basketball program make a commitment to their team and the program. RVHS Basketball events take priority over any other sport or non-class related requirements. We practice over vacations and Holidays including Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, MLK & Presidents Days.
*Participating in off-season events helps prepare players for try-outs. Making the team or a certain level is not guaranteed.
In Season Attendance Policy Reminder
Every team event is mandatory. Every miss has an impact. Dismissal may occur upon the 4th unexcused absence. Excused absences = death in family or medical emergency. All missed time has an impact on playing time.
If you anticipate a conflict, please see Coach Koscinski before the season starts. Team members make sacrifices for the good of the team, and we need to honor those efforts.
* Participating in another sport or club during the season is secondary to the High School team which takes precedent over the club/sport in season. Absences & time missed are unexcused & will have an impact.
Holidays:
Honestly we do our best to schedule accordingly. Everyone makes a commitment & that can impact families in general. Please plan accordingly. While family trips are important, they are considered unexcused absences. Each day missed counts as one unexcused absence and affects playing time. According to LCPS policy, players can be dismissed from the team after the 4th unexcused absence. This has been a sticky topic in the past and best to handle it honestly and up front.
This is what we foresee our schedule looking like during the breaks. We also put this information out months ahead so everyone, especially those new to the program, get the advanced notice.
