In order to allow coaches to best plan practice, players will be required to sign up ahead of time indicating their attendance. Any practices with no players signed up to attend prior to 4 pm the day BEFORE will be canceled. Players who sign up to attend are expected to show up. All practices are softball skill related (conditioning and weight lifting will not be held this year).

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recognizes eleven Riverside varsity softball players as all-American scholar-athletes. Honored for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom were Chloe Benson, Grace DeBergh, Anne-Marie DeBergh, Jillian Donahue, Brittany Grittini, Katherine Kelly, Caitlin Kerr, Shayna Lubitz, Alison Monahan, Emily Rohde, and Kerrigan Walsh. The NFCA provides all-American scholar-athlete certificates to softball players who compete at the highest level in their schools and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The Rams, coached by Samantha Ingersoll, were 10-10 in their first season of play despite a challenging schedule of Loudoun County rivals and other area powers. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association is a multi-level coaching organization serving girl’s and women’s fastpitch coaches at all competitive levels of play.

Congratulations to Anne-Marie and Gracie DeBergh for being named to Second Team for the conference. Anne-Marie was selected as a third baseman, and Gracie was honored as a pitcher. Congratulations to both girls for their successes this season!

The softball game against Clarke County tonight has been moved to Riverside at 6 pm. The April 6th game originally schedule to be at Riverside will now be at Clarke County.

We are starting in the main gym at 4 pm. Parent pick up time is 6:30.

Softball practice will be right after school in the main gym. Pick up time for parents is 6:15 pm.

Today's softball tryouts will be from 6-7:15 in the aux gym. At 7:15, coaches will hand out letters and release the athletes. Parents can pick up at this time. Coaches will remain in the gym until 8 pm for any players wishing to discuss anything.

Softball tryouts today will be right after school in the aux gym and end at 6 pm.

Monday's softball tryouts will be in the main gym right after school starting at 4 and ending at 6:15. Please have rides ready! Tuesday and Wednesday times are TBD.

Due to a coaches meeting, there will be no lifting/ conditioning for softball on February 4th.

Softball players need to keep their equipment in their school lockers when we practice right after school. To minimize how much space your equipment takes up, don't bring your helmet or catcher's gear. You should be able to get through practice with your bat, glove, and batting gloves.

Due to a scheduling conflict, there will be no softball practice 1/12/15. Weight lifting/ conditioning will still be taking place on Thursday 1/14/15.

Just a reminder that ALL paperwork must be turned in prior to our practice on Friday. For the list of required items, please select the required forms for participation tab. The coaches will not be collecting paperwork. All forms need to be turned into the athletic office. Anyone without all paperwork completed and turned in will not be permitted to practice or weight lift/ condition.

Friday's practice (7-9 pm) will require bats and gloves. Please make sure you bring your equipment! See you then.

The calendar has bee posted to track off season activities. Lifting/ conditioning days will be added shortly, but the softball specific practices are listed. 

Workouts outside of Riverside include four options. The posting came out in one giant blurb, so the options are as follows: Explosive Performance through Brambleton Sport and Health, Performance Edge Ashburn, Power Train Sport and Fitness Ashburn, and Black Bench Fit.

There will be a softball interest meeting in 1807 Thursday, November 19th starting at 4 pm. Discussion will cover out of season practices and workouts.

There will be a softball interest meeting after school on Thursday (November 17th) in one of the health rooms. Out of season practices will be discussed. Attendance is requested to help determine interest level for the formation of a JV team in the spring. Those unable to attend the meeting should email Coach Ingersoll (ingersollrhssball@gmail.com) to indicate their interest.

Practice will be outside on the field after school. We will meet outside of our storage closet to grab equipment before walking to the field together. At 6:15 we will walk back to the school from the field, so parents should aim to pick up their kids around 6:25.
