2023 Fall Event Dates

Greetings Riverside Lacrosse,

I hope you all are still having a fantastic Summer. I just wanted to send you a note about Fall Lacrosse Schedule.

This year we will be doing things a bit differently, for a variety of reasons. We still feel as though this plan will work out great for the development of the program!

2023 Fall Plan:

Please note each player must have all paperwork completed and submitted prior to participating in any/all team functions. Paperwork can be found under “Required Forms for Participation” located on www.riversiderams.net.

VEL Fall League (JV ONLY):

  • This year we will only be entering a JV team into the VEL FALL LEAGUE.
  • Now it is time to register for the VEL Lacrosse Fall League. This league is very well organized and competitive. Playing against top level competition will help our entire program grow. Games are on Sundays this year for 1 hour.
    • To sign up please follow the link below. http://virginia-elite-lacrosse.com/
      • *Note:  We would like all 9th and 10th graders to sign up for the Riverside JV Team. If you are a 10th grader that played Varsity Lacrosse last year, please do not sign up.
    • We feel that splitting the team this way will optimize each players’ experience and allow them to grow their skills with quality repetitions. Please also note, that playing in this VEL league in no way indicates which team you will be on during the spring season, nor does it solidify a spot in the program. This league is a way for you to improve your game as a player and do so by having fun with your Riverside Ram teammates. Tryouts for the Spring teams will begin on February 19th, 2024. We make all decisions for spring teams at that time.

Fall Brawl (JV ONLY):

  • The Fall Brawl is FUN tournament that we play in every year. The format is 7v7 and designed to celebrate the game and have FUN.
  • This year, we will only be entering 1 JV TEAM.
  • The JV Fall Brawl will be @ Evergreen Sportsplex on Saturday, November 18th.
  • More information on sign-up to come later. Stay Tuned.

Atlantic Coast Showcase St. Johns Invitational (VARSITY ONLY):

  • This fall we were once again invited to play in the Atlantic Coast Showcase at St. Johns in DC. This event is extremely competitive day against some of the best teams in the country to include St. Johns, Georgetown Prep, Loomis Chaffee (Conn), Western Reserve (OH), Culver (IN), St. Albans, Dematha and more…
  • The event will be Sunday, November 19th. This will be RETURNING VARSITY/INVITE only.  This is an extremely high-level event with many college coaches in attendance.
  • It is the expectation, that if you are a Returning Varsity Player, that you are available and play for our Riverside team that day. This is a special event that we are honored to be invited to and need everyone to help us be as successful as possible.

Oakton Turkey Shootout (VARSITY ONLY):

  • Varsity Only event held at Oakton High School.
  • Tentative date is Sunday, December 3rd. Please keep that day open.
  • More information to come later. Stay Tuned.

Lastly, information on off season lifting/conditioning, green days, and other items will be coming out later. Please stay tuned.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Just a quick reminder that if LCPS ever issues a delay or closure due to inclement weather. All morning lifting/conditioning is CANCELED.

Welcome Back

Greetings Riverside Lacrosse,

Welcome back to the 2022-23 school year! I’m excited to get to see everyone back in the school house this week! Here are some things to put on your radar.

  1. State Championship Rings are in production.
  2. State Championship Shirts are in. Please come see Coach Worek to get your shirt if you have not already.
  3. Paperwork – Be sure to get all paperwork taken care of so that you can start coming to workouts and green days in October. No one will be allowed to participate without all paperwork complete. Everything you need to turn in can be found on www.riversiderams.net under “required forms for participation”.
  4. VEL Lacrosse Fall League - Now it is time to register for the VEL Lacrosse Fall League. This league is very well organized and extremely competitive. Playing against top level competition will help our entire program grow. Games are on Saturdays for 1 hour.
    1. To sign up please follow the link below. http://virginia-elite-lacrosse.com/  (Please choose the appropriate Varsity or JV button)
      1. *Note: We would like all Returning Varsity Players and/or 11th and 12th graders to sign up for the Riverside Varsity Team. We would like remaining 9th and 10th graders to sign up for the Riverside JV Team. Be aware that after September 7th there will be a $20 Late Fee to sign up.
    2. We feel that splitting the teams this way will optimize each players’ experience and allow them to grow their skills with quality repetitions. Please also note, that playing in this VEL league in no way indicates which team you will be on during the spring season, nor does it solidify a spot in the program. This league is a way for you to improve your game as a player and do so by having fun with your Riverside Ram teammates. Tryouts for the Spring teams will begin on February 21st, 2022. We make all decisions for spring teams at that time.
  5. Ashburn Bandits Fall Clinics – We are fortunate enough to be teaming up with the Ashburn Bandits youth lacrosse program again this fall. Our players will help give back to the game by volunteering to work with young lacrosse players to teach and grow the game. This is a great opportunity to not only give back to the community, but also earn volunteer hours if you need them. The dates for the clinics are as followed:

  1. 8/30, 9/1, 9/6, and 9/8,
    1. Times are 5:30-6:30pm @ Hampshire Park
    2. We would like ALL returning Varsity players to help with this clinic. Please email Coach Florczyk ASAP and let him know if you are committed to helping. CoachKeith.RamsLax@gmail.com

  1. Lacrosse Interest Meeting – We will hold a Lacrosse Interest Meeting on Wednesday 8/31 @ 4:15pm in Room 1130A. Please spread the word to all players interested in playing lacrosse this year! Freshmen and Sophomores bring a friend that hasn’t played but is interested in playing! Go out and recruit your friends to join the program, we want everyone!

That’s all for now. Thank you for all your support and excitement about this year. As always if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask.

Helmet Return and Other Items

Greetings Riverside Lacrosse,

I heard we had a great first weekend at the VEL. The JV team had a huge win in dominating fashion over a great Yorktown program. The varsity team gave great effort but has some things to clean up from an execution standpoint.

Three quick things:

  1. Due to some scheduling conflicts, we are going to change our off-season lifting days to Tuesdays and FRIDAYS. The time is still the same 7:00-8:30am. We are still beginning on October 11th.
  2. Anyone that has been issued a helmet for the off-season, please bring them back to Coach Worek, Monday/Tuesday of next week (9/19 and 20) . We need to send them out to be reconditioned. If you still need a helmet for off-season play, speak with me, and we will take care of it.
  3. The spring game schedule is posted. We consider our schedule to be the toughest in the state. We start the season hosting a top private school in St. Albans, we are hosting a Top 20 team nationally in the Severn School, and we are traveling to Richmond to play the dominate 4A state champions at Atlee HS. What are you going to do to prepare yourself?

As always if you have any questions, please ask!

    • Please bring full equipment, and water.
    • We will have equipment for players that do not have their own.
