Yesterday in Richmond, 16 Riverside Rams swimmers participated in the 3A State Championship Swim meet and wrapped up the team's inaugural season. It was a tremendously successful meet, and season, for the Rams as the boys team finished in 17th place and the girls team finished 13th.
Freshman Claire Nguyen won the 200 Freestyle to become Riverside's first state champion athlete. In addition, Claire finished second in the 500 free, and was part of the girls 200 freestyle relay team along with Taylor Body (Fr.), Yasmine Boswell (Jr.), and Rebecca Oh (Jr.) that finished in 5th place.
As soon as I receive the final official results, I will post them.
The Ram's inaugural season was a fantastic one. I look forward to many years of amazing successes with this team.
Thank you.

Yesterday in Richmond, VA, the Riverside Rams made history in the Virginia 3A East Regional Championship Swim Meet. Boys 400 Freestyle Relay Team: Noah Koo, Taylor Barmak, Jake Kane, Jackson McCummings
Girls 400 Freestyle Relay Team: Rebecca Oh, Yasmine Boswell, Taylor Body, Claire Nguyen

In addition, several Rams posted some incredible best times of the season, including Jack Darnell, Yasmine Boswell, Ellie Streeter, Srutha Srinivasan, Taylor Barmak, Mason Coyle, Ayshah Obaid, Riya Mahajan, Rebecca Oh, Claire Nguyen, Ray Chin, Leo Silpacharn, Taylor Body, Alex Lumley, Keyhan Kamgar, Lucia Ogango, and Julie Trent. Once I have the complete results file, I will post it.
Matt Darnell has created an amazing video of the season. It does a much better job of showing the excitement and success of our season that I can possibly express in an email.

Rams,
This is it -- Regional Championship week! We've worked hard all season to prepare ourselves for this meet. As we taper you at practice and get you ready, you can take some other great steps to prepare yourself for Friday:
1) Eat well ALL week! Stay away from the junk food -- chips, cookies, ice cream, double caramel machiato mocha frapes (or whatever it is that you order at Starbucks). Eat lean protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grain carbohydrates whenever possible. You'll be amazed how it will affect your body and mind, and therefore your execution in the pool.
2) Sleep! Don't stay up late every night for no reason (ie video games, Netflix, etc.). Do your homework, swim, eat, sleep, and repeat. The more rest you get this week, the better your body will feel on Friday.
3) Get in the pool! There is a snow storm in the forecast for Monday/Tuesday. If it causes practice to be canceled on either night, please do whatever you can to make it to a pool. You've got to get is some light swimming and strong turn work, at a minimum, this week.
4) Enjoy it! This is going to be fun. Enjoy the moment. Enjoy the challenge. Enjoy your successes and celebrate them.
Here is your schedule for the week:
Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday - Practice from 8:15 - 9:30 at the Potomac Club. Yes, that says 8:15! Get there on time.
Thursday - The bus leaves Riverside at 2:30 pm. You will leave school right after 3rd block.
Friday - Regional Championship in Richmond. Riverside Rocks 3A East and makes history!
Remember, if you are not going to ride the bus back to Riverside with the team after Friday's meet, I need to know before we leave on Thursday. This is extremely important.
I have posted the line-up, the rooming list, and the expectations and itinerary documents to RiversideRams.net.

Rams,
It's the post-season and time for us to make some history. We have two weeks to prepare for the Regional Championship meet. I hope that everyone spent some time in the pool during the Blizzaster and is ready to fine-tune and prepare for Richmond.
Here is your schedule for the week:

Rams,
I apologize for the flood of email, but we're trying to get a lot done in a short period of time and taking advantage of the Blizzaster.
We are putting together an order of swim team shirts commemorating our first trip to the Regional Championship Swim Meet. In order to get the shirts in time for the meet, we need to place the order by Sunday. Therefore, I need a response from everyone by noon on Sunday, January 31.
If you want to purchase a shirt, please email me the quantity and size(s) that you would like.
If you do not want a shirt, please email me to tell me that you are not interested.
In your email, please include the name of the swimmer(s) for whom you are responding.
I want to hear from everyone so that I can make sure that everyone has had the opportunity to purchase a shirt. Again, we are on a tight deadline, so please respond as soon as possible.
The shirts are $20 each. I've posted a sample of the shirt on RiversideRams.net. Please note that the back of the shirt will include the name of everyone on the team because we are all heading to Richmond on February 11/12.
My email is joel.getis@lcps.org.
Thank you for your attention and quick reply.

Rams,
Unfortunately, with LCPS closing schools on Friday, our meet with Brentsville has been canceled. This means that our regular season is now over and our full focus is on the Regional Championship meet. Congratulations on a fantastic regular season. You should enjoy the success....until tomorrow
As soon as you can get to a pool, start swimming again. The Potomac Club is open, so please, please, please try to get there and swim. I have many, many guest passes that I can share with anyone who needs to use them. Get in some pool time before we gear back up next week with regular practices again.
Remember, we have a mandatory meeting on Monday at 4pm to discuss the Regional Championship meet.
With schools being closed on Thursday, we are forced to cancel the pasta party. We cannot have any official school events when schools are closed. I am sorry.
If you choose to do something on your own, that is up to you. However, it cannot be anything official.
Again, congratulations on a great regular season. Now, let's make some history for Riverside in the post season.

Rams,
Our Regional Championship Meet is scheduled for Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Collegiate Aquatic Center, 5050 Ridgedale Parkway, Richmond, VA 23234. The meet starts early (warm-ups by 8:00 am), which is why we are traveling the night prior.
For the meet, each team is permitted 4 entries per individual event, and one relay team per relay event. Given the size of our team, and the limitations on the number of events in which a swimmer may participate (4 total with no more than 2 individual events), nearly ALL Rams swimmers will be entered.
Because NEARLY all swimmers will compete, we have received permission for ALL Rams swimmers to travel with the team to Richmond for the meet. If you are not entered in the meet and you do not want to come, you are free to opt out. If you are entered in the meet, you are expected to swim. Please note that going to the meet does mean that you will miss school on Friday, February 12.
We will have a Mandatory Team Meeting on Monday, February 1, at 4:00 pm in my classroom. At the meeting, we will present the line-up for the meet, review expectations for practices, etc. leading up to the meet, review expectations, etc. for our travel and hotel stay, and discuss any other items needed in regard to the team. All swimmers must attend the meeting. I am giving you enough notice so that you can arrange to be there. This is very important.
All swimmers traveling to Richmond with the team must complete an LCPS Field Trip Permission form. I have uploaded the form to RiversideRams.net - //bigteams-public-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/library/files/riversideathletics.bigteams_com_145966/files/Regionals%20Permission%20Form.pdf
Please complete the form and return it to me as soon as possible -- Monday's meeting is a GREAT time to turn it in.
The team has hotel reservations at the Holiday Inn Bells Road - 4303 Commerce Road, Richmond, VA 23234, (804) 592-2900. I am not sure if there are any rooms available there for parents, but I strongly encourage you to check soon and make reservations if you plan to stay overnight.
If you have any questions, please email me.

Monday & Tuesday: No formal practice, however I know that the Potomac Club is open until 4pm. If you are able to get there and swim, please do. Thursday: No team meeting this week. Pasta party hosted by the McCummings and Lind families - 19688 Player Court, Ashburn.

On Friday, Park View will be holding their Senior Night during the break. I expect our team to be courteous and attentive to their program. We should show them the same respect that we would want them to demonstrate to us. Because of the program, there will be no warm-up time during the break -- no swimmers in the pool during the program.

Congratulations on a great meet yesterday. We saw some dramatic improvement in several events, our energy was amazing, and we had a lot of fun. Way to go!

Make sure that you are scheduling your time appropriately and getting all of your school work done before coming to practice each night. Our workouts this week will help to ease the stress!
Your schedule for the week:
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: Practice from 8:15-9:30 pm at the Potomac Club. Yes, there is practice tomorrow!
Thursday: No team meeting. Pasta Party at the Koo's house - 20317 Medalist Drive Ashburn, VA 20147 - 6:00-8:00 pm
Friday: Meet vs Park View at Ida Lee. Arrive at Ida Lee at 8:45 pm.
Saturday: Meet vs Stone Bridge at Claude Moore. Bus LEAVES RVHS at 4:15 pm. Warm-ups for the meet start at 5:30 pm. As always, I need advance notification if you are not riding the bus back to RVHS with the team
Enjoy your day off of school tomorrow. We'll see you at the pool at 8:15 pm. Bring your equipment. We'll be working hard this week as we begin to prepare for the post season meets.

Yesterday, the Riverside Rams and Dominion Titans met at Claude Moore for the first time. The boy's teams fought hard with the Rams topping the Titans 144-141. This brings the Rams boy's team's record to 5-1 and ensures that the team will finish with a winning record for the regular season. The Ram's girls team swam well, but fell to the Titans 113.5-172.5. It was another fantastic meet for both teams.
Notable improvements for the Rams:
Caitlin Olsen - 8 (!) seconds in 200 Free
Ayasha Obaid - 1 second in 200 Free
Ellie Streeter - 1 second in 200 IM
Madison Lippy - 1 second in 50 Free and 3 seconds in 100 Breast
Taylor Barmak - 1 second in 100 Fly
Brock Lippy - 4 seconds in 100 Fly
Jackson McCummings - 1 second in 100 Free
Jack Lind - 13 (!) seconds in 500 free
Srutha Srinivasan - 6.5 (!) seconds in 500 Free
Claire Nguyen - 8 (!) seconds in 500 Free
Faith Fields - 12.5 (!) seconds in 500 Free

Rams,
I just received updated information on the Regional Championship Meet. I have a few changes to prior announcements to present to you:
1) We can enter up to 4 swimmers in each individual event at the Regional Championship Meet. This means that nearly all swimmers (not necessarily all) will be in the line-up and going to Richmond.
2) Swimmers qualify for the State Championship Meet (Feb. 19) by finishing in the top 10 in an individual event.
3) Relays qualify for the State Championship Meet by finishing in the top 8 at the Regional Meet.
4) Medals are awarded at the meet for the top 6 finishers in individual events and the top 3 relay finishers.
5) We will be required to provide a significant number of timers for the meet. We will be notified on February 9 what the exact number is, but please be prepared to volunteer.
6) There is a $7.00 spectator admission fee for the meet. Volunteers don't pay!
7) Meet sheets, concessions, t-shirts, etc. will be sold at the meet. No meet sheet will be distributed to the team prior to the meet.
8) The pool is: Collegiate School Aquatic Center, 5050 Ridgedale Parkway, Richmond, Va. 23234, Phone (804) 447-2487
The big changes are that the number of swimmers participating has significantly increased and the path to states just expanded dramatically.

Rams,
As we start to reach the end of the regular season, I thought I'd share the information that we have received on our Regional Championship Meet. The meet is on Friday, February 12, in Richmond VA at the SwimRVA facility.
We may enter 3 swimmers per individual event and one relay team per relay event for the meet. This means that not all swimmers will be entered in the meet. Coach Quinn and I are working on the line-up already and will continue to modify/adjust as we wrap up the regular season. At the conclusion of the regular season, we will post the line-up. All decisions on the line-up will be based on what is best for the team, and decisions will be made using times achieved during the regular season. We want to put together the best possible line-up for the meet. Our decisions are final and, if entered, we are counting on swimmers to be at the meet.
To help you prepare, I have the following information to share:
1) The meet is a "timed finals" meet. This means that while there will be multiple heats, swimmers will have one chance to swim their best and the final results are based on times, not places within the heat in which you swim.
2) The meet starts EARLY on Friday, January 12. Warm-ups will begin as early as 7:00 am. That is why we'll travel the night prior.
3) The team will travel to Richmond together on Thursday night. Swimmers will travel together on a bus to Richmond. We will leave on Thursday, January 11, at 2:30 pm.
4) The team will be staying in a hotel together on Thursday night. We'll have them with 4 swimmers per room. We have reservations at the Holiday Inn, Richmond South.
5) The team will return home after the meet on Friday, weather permitting. The meet is scheduled to end at 12:00 pm on Friday. You may choose to drive your swimmer home yourself as long as I am notified in advance.
Swimmers can qualify for the State Championship meet based on their finishing place at the Regional Championship meet. The top 4 individual swimmers and top 3 relay teams in each event qualify for the State Championship meet, which is on February 19 and also in Richmond.
As more details are available, I'll share them.

Rams,
Coach Quinn and I are extremely proud of you all -- your effort, your spirit, and your results were fantastic on Friday. Unfortunately, we didn't win the meet but we definitely showed that we are a great team and that we are progressing more and more each week. Way to go!
With only 3 weeks left in the regular season (4 meets), we are in "crunch time" to get our best times in the water before the post season starts. Our approach for the next few weeks is to build on our speed -- our starts, our turns, and our finishes -- and finish the season strong. This week is our LAST week in the regular season to have the opportunity to practice starts off of the blocks at Ida Lee. I hope that everyone will take advantage of this optional practice this week.
Your schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday -- Practice from 8:15-9:30 pm at the Potomac Club (notice that practice STARTS at 8:15. BE ON TIME.)
Thursday -- Optional (but I hope everyone comes) Practice from 9:30-10:30 pm at Ida Lee
Friday -- Pasta Party at the Mahajan's House (19933 Augusta Village Place Ashburn, VA 20147) from 6:00-8:00 pm
Saturday -- Meet vs Dominion at 11:30 am at Claude Moore. All swimmers are to meet the bus at Riverside by 10:30 am.
**Please note that if a swimmer is not going to ride the bus back to Riverside with the team, I need to be notified, IN WRITING and IN ADVANCE. This means that I need an email, a text, or a note BEFORE the meet.***
I will be posting the line-up for Saturday's meet before 5:00 pm today.

Rams,
I hope that everyone had a great break from school and excited to get back to classes tomorrow. Yay!
We are halfway through the season. There are only 4 weeks remaining in the regular season (5 meets) as our last dual meet is on January 29. Then, we move into the post-season with our Regional Championship meet on February 12, and the State Championship meet on February 19. Both of these meets are in Richmond, VA. At our team meeting on Thursday, I'll review how the post season works -- how swimmers qualify, how we'll be setting the line-ups, etc.
Our focus at practice this week is speed! We spent the last two weeks working on some distance swims. Now, it's time to really work on power (kicking) and speed in the water. Your schedule for the week:
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: Practice from 8:15-9:30 pm at the Potomac Club
Thursday: Team meeting in Room 1206 from 4:00-4:45 pm & Pasta Party at the Webb's home - 43660 Jernigan Terrace Leesburg, VA 20176 - from 6:00-8:00 pm
Friday: Meet versus Heritage High School at 7:00 pm at Ida Lee
Congratulations on an great first half of the season. Let's build on it and have an even better second half!

The Ram's boys remained undefeated and became the first varsity team at Riverside to start a season 4-0 with their 168-118 victory. The Ram's girls lost a tough one 118-164 and are now 2-2. It was an excellent meet for both teams.
The girls 200 freestyle relay team of Rebecca Oh (Jr.), Talyor Body (Fr.), Yasmine Boswell (Jr.), and Claire Nguyen (Jr.) qualified for the state championship meet with a fantastic swim. Their time of 1:46.26 is a 3 second improvement over their prior best and surpassed the state qualifying standard.
Notable improvements are:
Claire Nguyen - Dropped 2 seconds in 200 freestyle
Taylor Barmak - Improved by 3 seconds in 200 IM
Jack Lind - Cut 2 seconds from his 500 freestyle time
Kaitlin Probus - Dropped 8 (!) seconds in 500 freestyle
Alex Lumley - Improved by 2 seconds in 100 backstroke
The complete results are posted on RiversideRams.net.
The Rams next meet is on Friday, January 8, 2016, against Heritage High School at 7:00 pm at Ida Lee.

Rams,
The meet sheet for Saturday's meet against Rock Ridge has been posted to RiversideRams.net:
As you review the meet sheet, you will notice that some of our times are missing. We are working to figure out why our times from the Loudoun Valley meet are not showing up in the seedings. We'll get it figured out but it won't be in time to reseed this meet.
This is going to be a close meet for the boy's team. We need everyone working together, cheering, motivating, and swimming their best so that the boys can become the first RVHS Varsity team to go 4-0!
The bus leaves RVHS at 2:30 pm.
If you will not be taking the bus back to RVHS after the meet, I need to be notified in writing and in advance.

Rams,
Congratulations on a great weekend of swimming. We've seen some great improvement in meets thanks to some strong practices. We have two weeks before our next week and we'll take advantage of the time with some work on our conditioning and our finishes so that we can power our way to the wall in each race.
Our next meet is on January 2 against Rock Ridge. I will be working on the line-up today and tomorrow. Some of you mentioned to me that you MAY not be at the meet. I need to know your plans, in writing, so that I can create the line-up appropriately. Hopefully, we'll have a full squad for the meet as they have a strong team.
While the practices over break are listed as "optional", I do expect to see you at practice. We don't want to become complacent. In my experience, the meet coming in after break is the toughest meet for swimmers because they "slack off" during break and struggle in the pool upon their return. Let's avoid this!
We have practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:15-9:30pm at the Potomac Club in Lansdowne. Make sure you have your fins and water bottles this week!
I'll be posting the Tuscarora meet results shortly.

Unfortunately, Claire Nguyen hurt her shoulder last night and we are scratching her from the meet. Therefore, we are making the following adjustments to the line-up:
Rebecca Oh will scratch from the 200 IM and swim the 50 free instead (in Claire's spot).
Girls 200 free relay:
Caitlin Olsen moves from the B relay to the A relay in Claire's spot
Lucia Ogango takes Caitlin's spot in the B relay
400 free relay:
The C relay is scratched.
Ellie Streeter moves from the B relay to the A relay in Claire's spot
Caroline Hunter takes Ellie's spot in the B relay

Last night, the Riverside Rams boys and girls swim teams topped the Loudoun Valley Vikings -- 151-132 and 181-96, respectively. It was a great meet with both teams showing a lot of spirit, support, and sportsmanship. With the victories, the Rams' teams advanced to 2-0 in their inaugural seasons.
For the Rams girls team, three swimmers won all of their events:
Alex Lumley captured first place in the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, and guided the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays to victory.
Claire Nguyen came in first in both the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle and qualified for the state championship meet in both of these events. In addition, her relay teams -- the 200 medley and the 400 freestyle, took first place.
Rebecca Oh won both the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly events and was part of first-place finishing 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
In addition, several swimmers dramatically improved their times -- by 2 seconds or more. Congratulations to the following swimmers who showed that their hard work does pay off.
Alex Lumley dropped 9 seconds in 200 freestyle.
Faith Fields lowered her 100 butterfly time by 8 seconds.
Ellie Streeter improved by 53 seconds (!) in the 500 freestyle.
Maria-Emilia Proano swam the 500 freestyle 43 seconds (!) faster than she has before.
Jack Darnell's 100 backstroke time was 3 seconds faster.
Tyler Pla improved by 2 seconds in 100 breaststroke.
William Joo dropped 4.5 seconds in 100 breaststoke.
Congratulations to the Rams on a fantastic meet. Tonight, we take on the Tuscarora Huskies at 6:00 pm at Ida Lee.

Rams,
This is an exciting week for RVHS Rams Swimming -- we have 2 meets as we roll into winter break. Friday, we swim against Loudoun Valley. Saturday, we get to see some old friends as we match up against Tuscarora. Both meets are at Ida Lee. The line-ups for both meets are posted on RiversideRams.net.
Last week, we had a focus on conditioning with some good distance work outs. This week, we'll get in some distance, but our primary focus is going to be power, speed, and explosiveness. See the article that I posted today on practicing better - http://www.riversiderams.net/main/teamfiles/id/3533223/seasonid/3760185.
Schedule for the week: Please remember that we want everyone to arrive by 8:15 every night for practice from now on. This will give us time to stretch out before we hit the water.
Monday - Practice at Lansdowne from 8:15-9:30pm
Tuesday - Practice at Lansdowne from 8:15-9:30pm
Wednesday - Practice at Lansdowne from 8:15-9:30pm
Thursday - Team Meeting from 4:00-4:30 in room 1206
Thursday - Pasta Party at the Darnell's house from 6:00-8:00pm (see link below to sign up and for the address)
Friday - Pep Rally during the school day at RVHS. Wear your team shirt!
Friday - Meet vs Loudoun Valley at Ida Lee - 9:00 pm. Please arrive at 8:45 pm (no earlier, no later). Ida Lee does not want us in the facility until 15 minutes prior to our warm-up times. They will ask us to wait in our cars if we show up early.
Saturday - Meet vs Tuscarora at Ida Lee - 6:00 pm. Please arrive at 5:45 pm.
I am hopeful that we can get a big crowd for Saturday's meet. We are the ONLY varsity sport which will compete against Tuscarora (and Stone Bridge) this season. Try to encourage friends to come to cheer us on. Let's have a "Red Out" for this meet -- have our fans wear RED to support us.
We need still need volunteers for both the pasta party (food, etc.) and for Saturday's meet (timers). Please use the links below to register. We need your support.

Rams,
Congratulations on a great meet yesterday. Coach Quinn and I are proud of your effort, your sportsmanship, and your enthusiasm...and winning the meet was nice too!
We have two weeks until our next meets (12/18 vs Loudoun Valley & 12/19 vs Tuscarora, both at Ida Lee). We are going to take advantage of the "bye" week to get in some excellent workouts and continue to improve our conditioning. This week's practices will include some significant yardage as we'll get in some more distance swims and some intense kicking. Make sure you bring your equipment -- fins and pull buoys -- as we'll be putting those to use starting tomorrow.
Here is your schedule for the week:
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday -- practice from 8:30-9:30 at Lansdowne
Thursday -- team meeting from 4:00-5:00 pm in room 1206
Thursday -- OPTIONAL starts practice from 9:30-10:30 at Ida Lee
I am going to start working on the line-ups for our upcoming meets soon. If you are going to be absent from any meets, please email me as soon as possible so that I can plan accordingly.
Enjoy your Sunday and see you tomorrow.

Yesterday afternoon, the Riverside Rams Swim Team opened the season with a meet against the John Champe Knights. The Ram's boys team won convincingly, topping the Knights by 42 points -- 162 to 120. The girls team pulled out a close one by taking first and third place in the meet's final event and winning the meet by 10 points - 148-138. It was a great meet for both teams.
Junior Noah Koo took first place in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly and freshman Jackson McCummings convincingly won the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke for the boys. In addition, Noah and Jackson led the boys 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays to victory.
For the girls, freshman Claire Nguyen qualified for the 3A State Championship Swim Meet in the 200 freestyle, 100 butterly, and 100 freestyle events as she surpassed the qualifying standards in all three events. Claire took first place in the 200 free and 100 butterfly, and led her relay teams to first place finishes in both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
It was a great day for Riverside swimming. Our next meet is December 18 against Loudoun Valley High School.

Swimming Rams,
We desperately need officials for the swim season. Thus far, we have no volunteers to be starter, referee, or stroke and turn officials this season. We are required to provide officials at each meet, so we need your help.
If you have any experience with swimming, you can be an official. To become an official, take the following steps:
1. Register online (takes 2 minutes) at the official’s website: http://vhsl.arbitersports.com/front/105753/Registration
2. After you register you’ll receive a rule book in the mail
3. Watch an online clinic on the website
4. Take the online test on the website (it is an open book test!)
**You will be reimbursed for the cost by the RVHS Athletic Department.
Please help! If you are willing to take this on, please email me so that we know that we have some officials in the works. As long as you are working toward the certification, you can be an official in regular season meets.
Our first meet is in two weeks (December 5). Please help us to make this season successful.

Swim Team Families,
I am looking for two parents to fill two important volunteer positions for the swim team -- Volunteer Coordinator & Pasta Party Coordinator.
The Volunteer Coordinator helps to ensure that we have our full requirement for volunteers at each of our swim meets. This role does not require that you attend meets. You can do it all remotely through online sign-ups, etc.
The Pasta Party Coordinator works with our swim team families to make sure that we have food, etc. for all of the swimmers at our weekly pasta parties. This is another role for which all of the work is done remotely.
Our first meet and pasta party are coming soon -- the week after Thanksgiving! The team really needs the help, so please email me if you are willing to take on either of these roles. The kids and I would greatly appreciate it. My email address is joel.getis@lcps.org.

Hello future Riverside swimmers-
I know many of your thoughts are on the summer season, but it is not too early to start thinking about the upcoming high school swim season. Although time in the pool is the mainstay of any swimmer’s workouts, I would like to highly encourage you to expand your training to include dry land work. I have been very impressed with BlackBench’s athletic development Academy given their focus on long-term athlete development. Their method is very suited for swimmer’s unique needs. A good strength and conditioning program will make good swimmers better and give great swimmers the edge they need to prepare for the upper levels.
I have coordinated an OPTIONAL program for the Riverside Swim Team with BlackBench. This is not a requirement for any athlete, however it is an excellent program for anyone who is interested. BlackBench will be offering a limited time early registration discount for their summer Academy so I encourage you to sign up before May 9.
