Samantha Ingersoll.


Head Coach

Biography:

Riverside High School announces the hiring of Samantha Ingersoll as head varsity softball coach. Ingersoll graduated from Stone Bridge High School after playing four years of varsity softball. She continued to play at the collegiate level for the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. She then transferred to West Chester University to finish her career where she set an NCAA Division II record for doubles per game in a season her junior year, and in senior year was named PSAC East player of the year, Atlantic Region player of the year, and Division II second team All-America. She was also voted the overall female academic athlete of the year by the Philadelphia Area-Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) as well as the softball performer of the year in 2010. Since graduating from West Chester, Ingersoll returned home to Loudoun County where she has spent the last five years coaching softball as a varsity assistant coach at Dominion High School for two years and Briar Woods High School for the last three seasons. Ingersoll will also serve as Riverside's head varsity volleyball coach.

Samantha has most recently been a varsity assistant coach for Dominion High School for the last five years. A Loudoun County native, she played four years of varsity volleyball and softball for Stone Bridge High School. During college, she played softball at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before transferring to West Chester University where she played softball and volleyball. Samantha also coaches and is a club co-director for the Tier One Volleyball Club.

Coach Karen (Coach K) is a highly respected member of the softball coaching community with nearly 30 years of coaching experience at the youth, travel and high school levels. After being a four-year starting SS at Miami University of Ohio, Karen went on to be the Head Softball Coach at Bishop O’Connell where she worked as a Health and PE teacher. She was inducted as a member of the O’Connell Hall of Fame for both softball and basketball. Karen also served as President of Leesburg Girls Softball from 2010-2015. Currently Karen serves as Fairfax County’s Director of Athletic Services for the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services and lives in Leesburg with her 2 children, Anthony (JMU Grad) and Kaylie (RVHS Class of 24 & Northwestern University Class of 2027).
