Riverside parents,
Virginia state code/law changed and now allows for VHSL physicals to remain valid for 14 months from the date of the physical.
In the past, all physicals expired on June 30 and new ones were required each school year. Now, a physical may carry over from one school year to the next as long as it's not older than 14 months.
When parents register their child for sports online (which won't open until mid June), they will be asked to enter the date of the doctor's physical. The Riverside athletic office will verify that date is correct after checking the actual physical paperwork. Parents will receive 30, 60, and 90 day automatic emails to remind you that the physical is set to expire. Please make sure to not allow a physical to expire, as this would cause the athlete to need to stop playing or practicing when the physical expired.
There may be a few paperwork challenges and processes to figure out for the athletic office, but we hope to have this as seemless as possible.
The VHSL physical form is posted on RiversideRams.Net under “Files.” Please note--by July 1, a new form will be posted that must be used for all physicals after July 1.
Thank you.
