Coaches

Joel Getis.


Head Coach

Biography:

Coach Getis has been Riverside's Swim Coach since the school opened in 2015.  Prior to Riverside, Coach Getis was at Tuscarora High School, where he was the head swim coach in 2014-15 and the assistant swim coach in 2013-14. In addition to coaching the Rams, Coach Getis owns and operates FastLane Swimming, a swim lesson and training program for the Lansdowne on the Potomac neighborhood in Leesburg, VA.

Through 2024, Coach Getis was the head swim coach of the Lansdowne Lightning Swim Team in the Old Dominion Swim League. Previously, Coach Getis coached for various swim teams in Montgomery County, Maryland. Along with coaching for several years, Getis was a swim official in both the ODSL and the VHSL for over 10 years.

Sam Gomez.


Assistant Coach

Biography:
Coach Gomez wrapped up a successful 4-year swimming career with the Ram’s Swim Team in 2020. He recently graduated from Brigham Young University-Hawaii, majoring in Communications, Media & Culture, and minoring in Japanese, Film, and Information Technology.  In addition to being a substitute teacher in Loudoun County Public Schools, Coach Gomez is also a Behavior Technician at PosAbilities Academy in Leesburg, VA.
Throughout his time at Riverside, Sam was a high-energy and team-spirited teammate and a well-rounded athlete. He is excited to return to his alma mater and to work with the Rams Swim Team and continue the team’s traditions of fun, teamwork, and top performance in the pool.
