Riverside Athletes and Parents,
This correspondence contains information about athletic paperwork, VHSL physicals, online paperwork, and fall sports tryouts. We have a few new processes to make you aware of.
FACILITY UPDATES
As you may have already seen, we have a new stadium turf field! Over the next month, we will also have a new track installed, new paving in the stadium, and new paint and new floors in the stadium buildings. The new turf practice field installation is also underway and should be done in a couple of weeks. We’ve also had our main and auxiliary gym walls re-painted. New Bermuda grass has been planted on our grass practice fields. It’s been a busy summer at Riverside !
ATHLETIC PHYSICALS and ONLINE REGISTRATION
Riverside Parents and Athletes,
Please refer to the below message that was sent by LCPS to all rising 9th-12th grade students this past week. We are using a new athletic registration system for next school year; therefore, ALL ATHLETES (new or returning) have to register using the below instructions. Please also note—from this point forward, hard copies or emails of athletic physicals will NOT be accepted by schools. The registration system will have you upload your physical digitally when you register. If you have previously turned in a VHSL physical, and that physical remains valid within the 14 month time period, you will note that as you register and get to the physical upload portion.
Because this system has you upload the physical as you register, please register for athletics either: 1. Now if you have a valid physical already on file or 2. When you have the physical ready to upload.
Please note that students in LCPS can register for one sport per athletic season.
Loudoun County Public Schools
Students interested in playing a sport in the fall should know the following:
- Golf tryouts start on July 27.
- All other fall sports will begin on August 3.
- Check your school’s athletics calendar for the schedule.
- Check your school’s athletics calendar for the schedule.
- Important: Register IN ADVANCE of tryouts or if you plan to participate in out-of-season practices or activities. Visit A Better Way to register.
- Provide a current sports physical to be able to participate.
- Submit your physical when you register.
- Submit your physical when you register.
Fall sports include Football, Cheerleading, Girls' Volleyball, Cross Country, Golf and Girls' Field Hockey.
New FALL Sports: Girls Flag Football, Boys Volleyball.
Note: Tryouts start BEFORE the start of school for fall Sports. If you have a rising 9th grader, this may be new for your family to consider. Students trying out for fall sports should plan to attend all three days of tryouts. Consult your high school’s calendar.
Tryouts and practices start before the first day of school. We advise families to consider this schedule if their student wishes to participate in a fall sport. They may need to adjust vacations or other summer plans to accommodate tryouts and practice participation.
All schools are required to hold a minimum of a three-day tryout period when selecting teams. Cuts may be deemed necessary in order to maintain manageable roster sizes. Student athletes are expected to attend all tryout dates as published by the school athletic department.
More About Registration.
Opens Monday, June 15
To participate in any LCPS-sponsored high school athletic activity, participants must complete registration on the new athletics registration platform, A Better Way. Rising 9th-12th graders, as well as those new to LCPS high school athletics, will need to create a new account to use this new registration system. Please be sure you have received confirmation of your completed registration at least seven days prior to the start date of your desired sports season. More information and directions to complete the registration process.
More about your Required Physical Examination
Virginia Law and the Virginia High School League (VHSL) require that all participants in high school sports receive a current sports physical examination prior to participation. The physical examination is valid for 14 months from the date it is signed. This physical examination must be recorded on the proper VHSL Physical
Examination Forms
For sports offered during each season, along with dates and tryout/practice information, refer to the LCPS Athletics and Activities website, and be sure to visit your school’s athletics website for times and information.

RIVERSIDE ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB:
The athletic booster club is looking for a treasurer for the 27-28 school year. We’d love for someone to shadow our current treasurer this school year to prepare for the following school year. If interested, please contact our booster club president at PatriciaFlynn@gmail.com
BOOSTER CLUB MEMBERSHIP:
The Riverside Athletic Booster Club continues to support all Riverside athletic programs with great generosity. All funds collected by the booster club (membership, concessions, corporate sponsorship advertising) goes completely to our athletic programs. This past year, the booster club gave over $65,000 directly to our teams! Booster club membership is again available to families. We would love for all families to become members of the booster club. Tax-deductible membership only costs $40 and is available to sign up at https://threshold.formstack.com/forms/rams_athletic_booster
ATHLETIC ADMISSION AND SEASON PASSES:
GoFan is the digital athletic ticketing provider for LCPS this year and moving forward. Admission for LCPS athletic contests for the 2025-26 school year remains $7 per person (under 6 and over 62 years of age are free.) LCPS season passes will soon be on sale and are valid for admission for the immediate family in the same home, and grant permission for all home regular season games at Riverside (there also an option for all home and away LCPS games). Season passes are a great savings for families who will attend at least a handful of home games throughout the school year. The link to purchase season passes is not yet available for next year, but will soon be available at GoFan.com (search Riverside HS Leesburg).
EARN MONEY FOR YOUR TEAM:
The Riverside Athletic Booster Club has tremendous opportunities to raise money for your team. By selling a sponsorship banner, 100% of the banner profit goes directly to the team of your choosing. If you own a business, work for a business, have a lead with a business, please consider selling this advertising opportunity with banner sponsorship at our athletic venues. The banner sponsorship program is available at https://riversiderams.net/main/bfiles. Make the connection with the business, then connect the business with the athletic office, and we’ll take it from there. This is a great way for teams to fundraise, and for parents to help those teams.
PREFER TO MAKE A DONATION TO THE ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB:
You can always make a tax deductible donation to the athletic booster club (feel free to designate that to a certain team). Three ways to donate: 1. Venmo: @Go_Rams, 2. PayPal: RiversideRams@outlook.com, 3. Mail at check made payable to the “Riverside Athletic Booster Club” to 19019 Upper Belmont Place Leesburg, VA 20176.
